Project title: Preparation and empowerment of women to enhance their political participation at regional level and support active work of League of women-voters in Western Georgia

The project is implemented with the support of the organization NED – National Endowment for Democracy, USA.

The Project Objectives are:

1. Contribute to developing of women-voters’ activity and increasing their role in democratization of electoral process in Western Georgia.

2. To change gender biases and social perception about women’s role in society and expand public awareness on the importance of women’s equal participation in political life of the country.

3. Lobbying of inclusion more women candidate on political parties’ lists by strengthening and support of women’s wings of the parties.

4. Through gender monitoring of local government elections to analyze the status of women in politics and in the electoral process, and identify and assess the various elements that may impact on women’s equal political participation.

The project period: 01.10.09 – 31.09.10

The project area: Four regions of Western Georgia (Imereti, Guria, Adjara, Samegrelo)
