Radio “Dzveli Kalaki” aired activities of Senakiu GAC with the issues which are advocated by Senaki Women Voters’ Club together with the GAC and local self-government – among them the issues of legalization of living spaces of the IDP groups living in Senaki.
The program also told about a project, which is implemented by the GAC members in pre-school premises in direction of gender education. In frames of the mentioned project, conducted trainings showed problems in educational sphere, psycho-social aspects of the violence against women.
The council members spoke about activities in frames of the project. It was said that actuality of the project is once again shown.
The radio journalists of the fund “Sukhumi” prepared a story reflecting the changes, received as a result of work. Among them it is very important social acknowledgement of the problem of violence, which is obvious in the interviews of the respondents – the head of the schools speaks about agreement competition of the novels regarding domestic violence. The main specialist of Sakrebulo underlines importance of inter-sectional collaboration and legal and psychological education in schools. The representative of social service agency expresses his opinion regarding increasing number of asylums and speaks about using mechanisms of the law.
The radio story reflects also activities of the forum-theatre of the fund “Sukhumi”, which promotes the formation of an irreconcilable attitude to the problem of domestic violence.

Kutaisi bureau of the radio “Freedom” got interested in activities of Gender Advisory Council of Kutaisi. What does the gender budget mean, what is the composition of recommendations submitted to the self-government, what will be envisaged in 2015 budget, how was the work carried out in direction of action plan of local gender policy and what are the basic principles of the document. – these were the issues, discussed by the council members and representatives of self-government.
The radio story told that new phase of the project “gender advisory councils – raising of women’s role for social changes in the regions” has started. How do the chairpersons and participants evaluate conducted work, what was shown during a meeting of GAC and gender equality council members of the parliament. According to vice-speaker of the parliament - Mrs. Manana Kobakhidze, it is a merit of the fund “Sukhumi” that this meeting and discussion between the deputies of parliament and local government on the issues of gender equality was held. Strategies of future collaboration were elaborated. She positively evaluated the attempt to establish gender advisory councils of the local leval.
Representatives of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Senaki councils talked about results of a year activities. First of all these are concrete budget suggestions, which are based on gender budget principles.
On December 16, the block of the Radio “Freedom” “Gender News” reflects the activities conducted by the fund “Sukhumi” in frames of the campaign and besides, pays attention to the results of organization activities: growth of number of women, who received consultations of the lawyer and psychologist, activation of the local government, public discussions, forum-theatres, creation of the view among the youth regarding the fact that it is important to rule the conflict and have healthy communications.

The action of November 25, as expression of zero tolerance towards the rapists, other activities of the fund “Sukhumi” conducted in frames of 16 day campaign, the problems, seen by the different groups of society and discussions for their solution, meetings with the psychologist and lawyer of the fund, conversation – healthy communication in family, society, as the best way of violence prevention.
These issues together with the other ones were discussed in the program, prepared by the journalist of the fund.
This year, in frames of the campaign, the meetings in schools was the most important. The teachers give high evaluation to the role of NGO sector in direction of informing and education of the youth. “Informal education in schools has great importance, but relation with qualified NGOs has different effect, because of this we greet collaboration with the fund “Sukhumi”.

“High level of involving in the campaign was provoked by the protest against frequent facts of murdering the women.” “We paid particular attention to the work with the youth. They need discussions about healthy communication. Serious steps were made to establish courses of gender and psychology in schools”. “It was once again revealed that there is no collaboration among the structures, which have responsibility to react properly”. “We are glad that our recommendations regarding importance of inter-structural exchange of information, coincides with the policy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs”.
The program also paid attention to the results, which followed collaboration with the local government.

On November 25, members of Batumi GAC joined the action of protest against the violence towards women. The fund “Sukhumi” was one of the organizers. The meeting was attended by local NGOs, youth groups, ordinary citizens, activists of the fund, club of voter women, and group of IDP women.
In the story of radio “freedom”, respondents – GAC members from Sakrebulo, NGOs, and other participants fix their opinion that the attitude of the state towards the problem must be changed. The victim must be sure, that she is not alone in the concrete situation, the rapist must see, that he will be punished, society must be careful, the state must be the guarantee of person’s security.
The radio “Dzveli Kalaki” aired a program, organized by the fund “Sukhumi”, which familiarized the audience with the activities, planned by the organization in frames of the campaign “16 active days”.
What do the specialists, ordinary citizens, local government representatives, members of parliament think about the ways of violence prevention, what issues were raised on public discussions organized by the fund, what do the journalistic standards mean, what responsibility do the society have in direction of victim protection and prevention of violence. There were interesting opinions regarding these issues.
A the Parliament members mention, they see that everything is not so well on legislative level and consider it important to have close cooperation with NGO sector. “The family has own culture, ethics, but it must coincide with society ethics.”

The representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” underlined importance of uniting society for women’s protection. “It will be alarming signal for the country, as violence mostly happens as a result of our silence.”
The conversation touched gender media centers, which were opened in 8 cities of Georgia. It was mentioned that the fund “Sukhumi” will actively cooperate with the centers: “We hope that it will improve communication between the journalists and NGO sector and will promote to rising of gender awareness”. There was information, according of which number of court appeals of violence victims increased. “Sometimes even divorce is not a way out. Aggression from the side of ex-husband often continues after devotion. Protection of the victim is a priority and obligation of the state first of all”.
The Radio “Dzveli Kalaki” aired a program, prepared by the fund “Sukhumi”, which underlines the alarming facts of domestic violence and reflects the activities of the fund to this direction.
Exceptional attention is paid to the work regarding violence prevention and victims’ protection, which was carried out in 6 municipalities of Western Georgia together with the self-government.
The views of parliament members are also interesting, they consider that “Georgian legislation should become closer to the European one as soon as possible”.

The show, of the Radio “Freedom” reflects the public discussions, organized by the fund “Sukhumi” and suggests us the interviews of the specialists and self-government representatives regarding the issues, which are important for the women, also the main subject is looking for collaboration ways with the self-government for solution of the problems and for establishing gender approaches.
The attention was paid to the activities implemented by self-government regarding women’s support. There were divided the groups, which need more attention on the local level – single mothers, young families. Several recommendations of the fund “Sukhumi” and gender advisory council were announced, establishment of which was greeted by the participants of the discussion.

How important is involvement of the society and revealing the needs, which will be suitable for all levels of society and at the same time gender balance will be protected in the process of planning of city budget – the radio show is devoted to the gender analysis of the local budget, conducted by the fund “Sukhumi” and Batumi GAC and pays attention to the recommendations received after the research. There are several items among them: - popularization of gender budget, promotion of gender education of local self-government representatives. Necessity of gender monitoring of all new programs and gender segregated local statistics, providing of fair allocation of local resources.
The show underlines position of gender advisory council: promotion of self-government’s full communication with all local civil groups and the IDPs among them.
The interviews showed that several issues, discussed on different levels, are reflected in the projects of local budget programs. It notifies constructive collaboration of the civil society and local government.

The story in the radio “Old City” describes the most interesting moments of Senaki GAC activities.
The council members spoke about the results of sociological research. They mentioned that – the research showed lots of such needs, which was not seen from the first sight, but needed deeper study. For example – necessity of youth support long-term programs, more involvement in the process of budgeting, promotion of the professional re-training of the population, who had to start agricultural life because of social-economical situations of last 25 years and gaining finances for creation of small enterprises and so on.
According the research, the council already has ready the suggestions and recommendations for submission of new Sakrebulo.
The show also touched gender picture in Sakrebulo after elections. As it was seen from the story, the women have quite good positions in Sakrebulo. 1 of 6 chosen women is the chairperson of social issue commission, two of them are the leaders of different fractions.
Evaluation of pre-election environment through the side of women’s participation
How is the pre-election climate in self-government elections evaluated through the side of women’s participation by the members of Batumi GAC, how the women candidates evaluate their chances and what do they suggest to the voter, if they have the hope of women society solidarity. Radio “Freedom” aired meetings of women candidates with the voters and the issues which were raised on this meeting.

As self-governmental elections showed, that the local society is not still ready to support women candidates. By the evaluation of GAC members gender picture of Sakrebulo is an example of it – as a result of Batumi local self-government elections only two women became the favorite of the voters. Radio-show in the air of radio “Freedom” was devoted to the research of local gender groups’ needs, carried out by Batumi GAC and the fund “Sukhumi” and reveals position of local government and different state structures regarding revealed problems.

What does the state program of bringing up careless children mean? Who may be the beneficiary of this program? What problems do the people have, while growing a child, how are these children (who were direct or indirect victims of domestic violence) adopted in new situation?
“At first the girls had enuresis, while seeing a guest they immediately asked: “grandpa, you won’t drink, will you?”
“Anonymous radio monologue” was devoted to this issue and tells a story of two small girls, who were given chance to live in healthy psycho-emotional conditions.
