Pleasant news: in Ozurgeti there were created youth Sakrebulo (with 15 members) and gender advisory council (with 5 members), which will be responsible for youth part of gender policy.
These young people were named during the youth forum of Ozurgeti GAC. The forum “gender culture” was held in conference hall of Ozurgeti Sakrebulo as the final step of the project “youth for support of gender policy support”.
High level of the forum was caused by:
Participants – pupils, trainers, GAC members, representatives if the fund “Sukhumi”.
Guests – political elite of Ozurgeti, heads and members of both Sakrebulos, representatives of different structures and media.
Form – expert view, group work, revealing of problems and the ways of their solution.
The work of forum was fruitful and achieved result – effectiveness of the project was obvious, working strategy was elaborated, new project proposals and initiatives were drafted, which will be supported by no means.
The international 16 Days of Activism Against Gender
Based Violence Campaign came to an end.
Fund "Sukhumi" carried out more than a
hundred events, but the Civil Forum was a special one, as it summarized the
work of the fund and outlined plans for the future.
There was organized an exhibition-sale of women's
products at the Forum. The photostands clearly reflected the diverse activity
of the fund in the regions.
Despite the bad weather, the forum was attended by
representatives of local legislative and executive power of Western Georgia -
Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskhaltubo, Senaki, Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti, social service
workers, journalists, and mobilizers of Women Support Centers of Fund
"Sukhumi".
The forum assessed the situation in terms of violence
prevention against women and girls. Through group works there was elaborated a
strategy of cooperation with local authorities on the prevention of domestic
violence, reveal and control of cases.

50 persons (students,
schoolchildren, teachers, representatives of NGOs) gathered at the civil forum
in Batumi.
The theme of the
forum was: Domestic violence – a social problem.
After speeches of
experts the work was held in 4 groups.
Participants actively
discussed the problem as a social evil. They talked about society’s attitude to
the problem. All was well reflected in the presentations, recommendations and
proposals.
This was the last
accord of the project "Youth for non-violent culture” supported by the Ministry
of Education, Culture and Sports of Ajara Autonomous Republic.

"Prevention of Domestic Violence - Strategy and Action Plan" - a joint forum of Fund "Sukhumi" and Fund of Women Entrepreneurs was dedicated to 100 years of International Women's Day.
The Forum was held on March 9th in Kutaisi, in the conference hall of the Hotel "Tiripebi”.
Representatives of both organizations provided the guests who came from different parts of Western Georgia with the information about their activities implemented with the purpose of violence prevention.
An expert Iliko Natsvaladze presented a situational analysis of domestic violence in Georgia.
After the presentations of speakers the Forum participants have started the group activities.
"Domestic violence has a negative impact on women" – this problem was discussed in five groups: government representatives, lawyers and psychologists, mass media, women entrepreneurs, civil society. An hour later all five groups developed "Carpets of ideas" in which the forum participants formulated preventive mechanisms for the problem solution.
Based on the ideas of the participants a mobile team developed a Strategy for the prevention of domestic violence and an Action plan.
Participants highly assessed the forum. The representatives of state structures and media had a special focus on the problem of violence. They expressed a desire to active cooperation.
The Forum was covered by the First Channel of public television, regional television companies "Rioni", "Mega-TV”, and radio "Dzveli kalaki”.

Civil forum on the topic "Woman’s solidarity against gender based violence” organized by Fund "Sukhumi” was held on March 9th in Kutaisi, in the hotel "Tiripebi”.
Unlike previous forums, participants of the forum were members of Fund "Sukhumi”, including moderators and volunteers from Ozurgeti, Batumi, Khobi, Tskhaltubo, Khoni and Poti.
The work style was non-traditional. Participants worked in six different cafes (café of NGOs, Media, youth, Georgian women, Georgian men and café of women’s movement) and discussed the topic from different positions.
The problem of women’s solidarity was discussed in the following direction: What should be done for achieving women’s solidarity against gender violence in the process of reconciliation and politics?
During the presentations there were showed positions of all six groups: women should be more active for gaining solidarity, they should struggle against stereotypes, active inclusion in peacemaking activity, increasing of legal consciousness, economic independence of women etc.
