On the initiative of the youth center of the fund “Sukhumi”, tennis competition was held in Tskaltubo. It was participated by the representatives of Tskaltubo Municipality administration (Sakrebulo, Gamgeoba). The winner was representative of Gamgeoba – Gaga Ushveridze. He gained special prize of the fund “Sukhumi”. Other participants were awarded by the diplomas.
With the help of this action, local government expressed a protest against violence towards the women.

Kutaisi group of leader-girls organized a friendship competition in mini-football between the sportsmen of Tskaltubo and the soldiers of Infantry Brigade.
With this event the men supported the campaign of 16 active days against gender violation.

Clubs of Women-Voters
of Fund "Sukhumi” joined the 16 Days Campaign Against Gender Based Violence.
On the 2nd
of December, at 2 p.m. Clubs of Women-Voters on the theme of the 16 days
campaign were held simultaneously in seven cities (Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Batumi,
Senaki, Poti, Khoni, Zugdidi) and four villages (Bia, Menji, Ekadia, Koki) of
Western Georgia.
In the meetings
participated active members of the Clubs of Women-Voters, representatives of
NGO, local self-government and mass media. There was carried out a discussion
about reasons of violence and the ways of solution. According to the attendees
more activities should be carried out with society on raising of non-violent
consciousness; the legislation should be changed - strict measures are needed
for perpetrators, and shelters should be opened for victims.
Information about the
club meetings was posted on facebook accounts of Clubs of Women-Voters.
Representatives of the Fund "Sukhumi" met
with the Executive Acting Mayor of Kutaisi Shota Murgulia and familiarized him
with the information about the 16-day campaign.
About the
beginning of the campaign received the information and the employees of the
City Council.

Today the 16 Days of
Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign has begun.
First time in our
12-year history of campaigns the first who joined the campaign were local
self-governments – few days earlier there was hanged a ribbon with the slogan
"Together - against violence against women!" in the central street of
Poti.
In Senaki due to
strong wind they had to hang a ribbon twice and in Zugdidi they needed firemen’s
help...
In Kutaisi there was
installed a billboard with the slogan "Together – against violence against
women!"
From today, the
ribbons will be hanged on the central roads of Khoni, Tskhaltubo, Kutaisi ...
In such an active
manner local Sakrebulos and Municipality Boards joined the campaign!
The "Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence" is a worldwide campaign held from 11 to 17 June. Members of Ozurgeti Club of Women-Voters joined the campaign. They organized action and fixed their position, expressing their protest to armed conflicts.
After the action members of the Club got acquainted with the Platform of Action of the Women's League of Fund "Sukhumi". After discussion, they expressed their opinions and suggestions, one of which was:
- Add one more item in the Platform - annual paid maternity leave for women.
At the Club were actively discussed issues of special concern for the local population. Advocacy group will raise issues of damaged internal roads, sidewalks and car parking in local government.
The project is implemented with the support of the organization NED – National Endowment for Democracy, USA.
"16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign launched in 1999. Georgia joined it in 2001.
The main slogan of the 2011 campaign is "From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: let’s challenge militarism and end violence against women!”
Fund "Sukhumi” always takes active participation in the campaign. The Calendar plan of activities to be held in Western Georgia from November 25 to December 10 has already been developed .
International campaign Global Week of Action Against Gun Violencewas launched on June 13.
At 11 a.m. staff members of Fund "Sukhumi” gathered in the office of the organization. They were provided with the information about the campaign.
Mobilizators of Women’s Support Centres of Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Khoni, Poti and Khurcha were given leaflets, posters and advice on conduction of informational meetings.
At 12 p.m. there was held a Press-briefing for representatives of regional and national Mass Media. 15 journalists participated in the briefing.
They got acquainted with the essence of the campaign, its history, objectives and importance of fund "Sukhumi" involvement.
They recorded interviews with the fund representatives.
The evening news of the local TV companies "Rioni", "Mega TV" (around 100,000 people watched the programme) and the First channel of Georgia (which is broadcasted around the whole of Georgia) highlighted the press briefing and the international campaign.
Information about the campaign was broadcasted by the radios "Imedi", "Tavisupleba", and "Dzveli kalaki”.
On the same day, six informational meetings were held in collective centers of Kutaisi and Tskhaltubo.
Participants of these meetings were over 100 people, each of whom have experienced the horrors of war and therefore they unanimously supported the international campaign.
Within the framework of the international 16-day campaign against gender violence fund "Sukhumi has completed a national campaign, covering nearly the whole of Georgia.
The campaign was especially active in Western Georgia.
The slogan of the campaign was - "End violence against women!"
The main achievements of the campaign are active public discussions on violence against women, information meetings, international youth trainings, actions, active involvement of Media component - social clips, video films, TV and radio programmes.
Once again the position that violence is evil united all people of good will.
A student of the School of Young Women-Leaders Mari Kvanchiani (Senaki) presented her mini-play "Little Stones" in the St. George spiritual gymnasium in Zugdidi. This was a play on the topic of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict. The play was attended by pupils and teachers of the gymnasium. The play has caused their specific emotions.
At the end of major told the audience that the play was showed within the framework of the 16- day campaign. With this event they expressed their protest to conflict and wars, because the conflict - is the greatest violence against human being.
The 16 Days campaign of Activism Against Gender Violence launched by Fund "Sukhumi" differs by intensity of informational and educational work in the television media and screening of social advertisements.
On November 25 a talk show was transmitted on the air of the TV company "Rioni". The finale of the campaign will be TV discussion to be transmitted on December 10.
On November 25 a TV commercials about the Action of Fund "Sukhumi” against gender violence were transmitted by the First Channel of the Central Television, the regional TV companies "Rioni" "Mega TV", "Fazis" (Poti).
The film about the youth Forum-theatre of Fund "Sukhumi” was transmitted on the air of "Rioni” on November 27 and on November 28 a short film "One ordinary day” on the theme of violence.
The film about the Forum-theatre will be transmitted on December 5 on the TV company "Fazis" in Poti.
During the campaign social advertisements of Fund "Sukhumi” will be transmitted on the air of the central television.
In order to promote nonviolent consciousness social advertisements of Fund "Sukhumi" will be transmitted on the air "Rioni” and "Mega TV” throughout the year.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from 1991. More than 150 countries and 2000 organisations are involved in the campaign. Georgia joined it in 2001.The main slogan of the campaign is "End violence against women!” Each year the Center for Women's Global Leadership develops a theme for the international campaign in consultation with women's organizations around the world. This year the theme is "Structures of Violence: Defining the Intersections of Militarism and Violence Against Women."
Each year Fund "Sukhumi” participates in the 16 day campaign.
From November 25 till December 10 Fund "Sukhumi” will carry out different measures in Western Georgia.
