The story in TV Company “Rioni” about IDP collective centers in Kutaisi tells us about three of them.
It is dangerous situation in collective center of LTD. There are no windows, the ceiling and fool is damaged, there is only one toilet for 60 persons.
The IDPs have questions regarding criteria of resettlement and the scores, they request alternative living spaces.
The second collective center, is located in Choma. The main problem is roofing. Residents demand to solve the problem under co-financing.
The problem of water supply is raised in the third collective centre “Abkhazia”. The ceiling is damaged and the walls get wet after the rain.
The story was prepared in frames of coalition project of the fund “Sukhumi” - “Involvement of the IDPs residing in Kutaisi in Municipal 2015 budget discussion and advocacy process with the aim of envisaging their specific demands”.
As the story in the TV Company “Rioni” tells, the fund “Sukhumi” gave the members of Kutaisi Sakrebulo and GAC, possibility to take part in the training “gender in educational sphere and in city budget”, supported by the Czech partner organization NESEHNUTI.
In the story demonstrated how gained experience can help participants, how the work will continue in the GAC project for gender education in preschool premices.
Participants noted that the training gave them an idea how you can be supported implementation of gender policies at the local level, in the local budget, so that would be positively reflected on the lives of citizens - primarily women's groups.
In frames of coalition project of the fund “Sukhumi”: “Involvement of the IDPs residing in Kutaisi in Municipal 2015 budget discussion and advocacy process with the aim of envisaging their specific demands”, problems and needs of the IDPs residing in three collective centers were studied.
In collective center of culinary college 51 families reside, the main problem is rehabilitation of the building. The Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation has no right to rehabilitate whole building as together with 32 IDP families there also live 19 local families.
The second collective center, which was aired in the story, is military kindergarten. Here exists the problem of the road and water supply.
On Nikea street, in the building of former 22 kindergarten, 26 families reside, they are satisfied with newly rehabilitated living spaces. They have a desire to arrange a square and greening in the yard.
On February 5, the block “gust in studio” of the “News in 17.00” was held with participation of two representatives of Batumi GAC.
The show evaluated two-year activities of the council. Concrete results were revealed, achieved by GAC and promotes to establishment of gender policy on local level.
Conducted researches, public discussions on different important issues, informational meetings with civil groups, activities of the club of voter women in direction of advocacy, suggestions, prepared for city budget, programs, meeting with gender advisory council of the Parliament – guests of the show spoke about schedule of the council.
Particular attention was paid to package of recommendations and suggestions presented to the self-government regarding activities of protection from domestic violence. The journalist mentioned that this issue is the most painful among gender cases in Adjara. It was underlined that readiness for collaboration of both branches of local government, activities planned for informing the staff, is worth noting.
As for the future perspectives, it was said that the council is going to submit the projects to the self-government for financing, which will promote to development of local civil groups. Intensive work is carried out on local gender policy document, which will be submitted to Sakrebulo by the name of the council.

The program was prepared in frames of the project “Involvement of the IDPs residing in Kutaissi in Municipal 2015 budget discussion and advocacy process with the aim of envisaging their specific demands”.
The journalists met the residents of three collective centers (hotel “Kolkheti”, musical school-asylum, auto factory settlement), familiarized with their living conditions, made interviews with detail description of IDP needs and problems. The story aired round table of the fund “Sukhumi” with representatives of local self-government, IDP regional services and Abkhazian Autonomous Republic.
Members of self-government noted when and how will it be possible to solve IDPs problems.
The story was aired on February 1 and it showed the audience collaboration between civil society and local government, which will by no means have positive results.
Project “Youth for Promotion of Gender Policy”, implemented by Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Council, shows gender education of the pupils of upper classes from 5 schools, idea of alternative youth Sakrebulo and gender council, summarizing forum, which made obvious the results of the project – TV story in “Guria” show position of the youth participating in the project, GAC members, and positions of self-government.
“We hope that these young people will be actively involved in the life of region, city. They have interesting ideas and the main thing, they love their town” – these are evaluations of young people’s enthusiasm made by GAC members.
On January 28, TV “Rioni” aired a program, which told the audience about results of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council activities, collaboration with self-government and projects, implementation of which is planned. During the show position of the citizens was shown, how do they see the role of council and what issues do they foresee in the day schedule. There was announced position of the parliament members regarding necessary activities for establishing local gender policy. Activities of the council were evaluated positively.
The show was attended by council members, youth, representatives of local social institutions. Discussions once again showed vectors of council activities. Main stress was made on documents of local gender policy, which was elaborated by the council and now it is lobbed on the local level, in order to define lo0ng-term perspective in this direction.
Regional TV Company “Egrisi” aired activities of Senaki Gender Advisory Council. On the initiative of council the self-government supported a project, which will promote to inclusion of gender education components in pre-school educational system and assistance of raising professional skills of the staff. The project is the part of local gender policy, lobbying of which is actively carried out by the council.

On the initiative of the President of Georgia, 2015 was announced as a year of women, which means that changes must happen in state as well as in local policy to make the women more protected, stronger socially and economically. This decision was leaded by quite hard condition of the women in direction of women’s political and economical involvement, parliament and local elections, finished with minimal result, hard reality, existing in direction of women’s gender violence protection. As it was mentioned by the president the problem should appear in attention of society.
How do the public organizations evaluate existing challenges, what kind of efforts should the state and society take?
Members of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council, representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” share their opinions regarding these issues, they define spheres, where the women mostly need protection and strengthening.
The weekly program of the TV Company “Rioni” – “7 Days”, presents an interesting story regarding this issue.
Joint project of the fund “Sukhumi” and regional media – mini competition for support of social journalistic development was finished. It is continuation of the campaign against violence towards the women – “from peace at home to peace in the world”.
The winners received monetary prize of the fund “Sukhumi”.
As a result of the project there appeared a product, which made the lives of citizens in the regions obvious, it showed not only their problems, but everyday life, future plans. Motivation of regional media was increased to work in direction of social journalistic.

As the Mayor of the city claims, most part of the recommendations are envisaged in the future budget. Among them infrastructure of kindergartens, raising of qualification of the staff. As the council members claim new budget is more gender sensitive as it was in previous ones – it is a results of collaboration of self-government and civil groups.

Ordinary citizens, parliament members representatives of NGOs express their opinion regarding this issue. They think that “human rights must be protected not only by the law, but also public ethics”.
The fund “Sukhumi” works in direction of women’s rights protection since 2003. As the chairperson of the fund mentions, the society became more tolerant to aggression and it must be neutralized. The facts of violation must be analyzed, the reasons must be studied and mechanisms of protection must be sophisticated.

How alarming are the scales of domestic violence, how must be the collaboration built among the structures, which are responsible for prevention and victim protection, how important is to involve local government in this process and what role should it have – the respondents fix their position regarding this issue.
2.Ordinary program of “Gender News” touché the issue of action plan of gender policy, elaborated by Batumi Gender Advisory Council. According to the council members, the document is based on research of needs of local civil groups, carried out by the council and fund “Sukhumi” and also to Batumi gender analysis, which gives opportunity to evaluate local gender situation.
It was said that in future local policy action plan will be submitted to local government for discussion.

At the end of the campaign, which coincides with the international day of human rights’ protection, he fund “Sukhumi” devoted a TV program. It was attended by the journalists of the fund, media, press, TV and internet agencies, students of the journalistic faculty, also the lawyers and psychologists.
What is the role of media in solution of the problem of violence, how are the media standards protected, how is the media responsible not only to air the issue, but also to make the reasons of the problem obvious, collaboration of different structures and process of reaction, showing punishment of the rapist or vice versa - inappropriate punishment. It was underlined that media can promote to prevention of violence and it shows professionalism and high social responsibility of the journalists.

A weekly program “7 days” aired involvement of the fund “Sukhumi” in the campaign of 16 active days against gender violation. The authors underlined that the fund “Sukhumi” is a pioneer organization, which exists for more than 10 years and speaks about this problem in all instances. The representatives of the fund speak about activities and public involvement of the organization in frames of the campaign.
Members of the Parliament of Georgia and local Sakrebulos, who represent Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council, mention that the state was late to make steps in direction of violence prevention. Importance of violence prevention, informing the society and education was also underlined.
