A round table meeting in Senaki was attended
by teachers, housewives, and members of the local government.
Attendees discussed the issue on how the
socio-economic background and political environment should be changed to
mobilize women and achieve gender equality.
The participants noted that women fail to show
sufficient solidarity. According to them, if there was gender equality, social
and economic situation would have been much better.
Roundtable participants agreed that the
protection of their rights, achievement of gender equality and improvement of
women’s situation is possible only if women are active and united.
