"Improper distribution of gender values, roles and responsibilities, unfair attitudes, confrontation in family lead us directly to violence" - this view was expressed at the debate (the theme "Gender values, the functional roles of men and women in the context of domestic violence") conducted at Women’s Support Center in Khoni. Participants of the meeting were representatives of local self-government, law enforcement agencies and media, psychologists, lawyers, teachers, and high school students.
Participants of the meeting expressed an opinion that formation of gender values is closely related to both formal and informal education. The great role is given to cultural development, the values on which the growing generation is brought up. They emphasized the importance of analyzing information existing in psychologist’s institution and various structures. For example, at the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs there are created cards of family conflicts, where are fixed conflicts in families, and defined the families under risk. Although this information is accumulated, yet it is very important to provide information to the relevant structures and to work with these families.
The participants told about the importance of covering facts of violence so that it does not become a new precedent for the other perpetrator. Media should be careful covering such themes. |
