Students of the Young Women Leaders School held a Round table at the Women’s Support Center in Tskhaltubo.

- Youth Employment - there was a lively discussion of that topic. According to the common opinion of the participants the situation is complicated in Georgia, in terms of employment. Most of the young people living in Tskhaltubo, went to Tbilisi or abroad. The situation in other cities in Georgia is the same.

Attention was paid to professional staff. It was noted that, despite high taxes, institutions can not provide high-quality training for students, and this is the reason for hiring basically those young people who got education abroad.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the EUMM.

Tolerance – this was the theme of the Round table organized by the members of the School of Young Women Leaders of Fund "Sukhumi” in Women’s Support centre of Senaki.

What contributes to aggression among young people? There was a hot debate after discussing of this question. According to the participants, the heart of this problem is migration, impact of gambling on young people, aggression from parents, and social problems.

Round table of on the theme "Drug addiction, alcoholism, gambling - in the context of domestic violence" was carried out in Women's Support Center of Khoni. The meeting was attended by IDPs from Abkhazia, teachers, school students, journalists, representatives of the local self government.

 After the information provided by experts, there was held a discussion and identified interesting views: "environment plays a great role, only education is not enough"...

At the meeting there was fixed an opinion that youth should be informed about such important topics that they were aware of the danger they put themselves.

"Woman and stereotypes" - that was the theme of the Round table, which was held in Women’s Support Centre of Poti. Facilitators of the meeting were members of the School for young women leaders Neli Ungiadze and Rusiko Djguburia.

At the beginning of the meeting participants were provided with the information about the campaign.

"Youth’s attitude to the social role of woman" – discussion of this issue was followed by active discussion.

"Women’s activity should not be limited to the family. She must be actively involved in public activity", - such was the general opinion of the attendees.

Participants of the meeting were handed out posters, booklets, calendars about the campaign, prepared by fund "Sukhumi".

Round-table discussion on the topic "Women Against Violence” was held in connection with the launching of the campaign. It was attended by activist of fund" Sukhumi ", women IDPs, teachers, senior pupils and representatives of the local self-government. There were expressed views that to fight against this problem it is necessary to consolidate the whole society.

Divorce in the family on basis of violence is a very challenging issue. Is there a solution? What positive and what negative aspects does it have? – discussions on this issue were carried out at the Round table meeting held in Women’s Support Center in Poti. The topic of the meeting was: "Divorce – a way out the situation or clash with another problem- in the context of domestic violence”.

The meeting began with the provision of information by experts, followed by very interesting discussions. There were expressed views in connection with these topics: "The attitude of society to the divorced woman is not easy”, "Even in the case of family conflict child prefers to see parents together”, "Unfortunately, a couple who decides to divorce, become blood enemies".

There was emphasized an opinion that such meetings are necessary for society: "We have not received such spiritual food for long time”.

On September 17th a Round table on the topic "The role of youth in the process of peace building and prevention of violence” was held in the office of the Youth Centre in Bolnisi.

The meeting was attended by young people from several NGOs: "Bolnisi Youth Centre”, "Woman and Peace”, "Kvemo Kartli Information-public Centre”, participants of the School of Young Women Leaders and actors of the youth Forum theatre of Fund "Sukhumi”.

Young people shared experiences, information about actions made for the prevention of violence, achieved results. They defined the role of the youth in peacemaking.

On the 3rd of September women deputies of local self-government of Imereti region and representatives of the public gathered in the conference hall of the Hotel "Imperial”.

In the first part of the meeting representatives of local self-government talked about the situation in local government in terms of female participation.

The main part of the meeting was devoted to the presentation of books published by Fund "Sukhumi". The brochure, "Gender and the political parties” provides general characteristic of the gender situation in political spectrum of the country.

 "Teacher’ trip around Caucasus” by Russian teacher Elvira Gorukhina was translated with the support of the international organization Kvinna til Kvinna. This book is about perpetual values which arouse feelings of repentance, forgiveness, and love to one’s neighbour.

- It is impossible not to feel. It seems like if she sits beside you and tells the amazing stories of her trip, - Lela Gvenetadze.

- Only few would have the strength to decide on such a journey. It is not so easy to travel and then write about it so that the reader feel.

The current link between the processes of peace-building and state development, the importance of women's participation in these processes - the speakers focused their attention on these issues.

Despite hot weather, lots of participants gathered at the Round table meeting on the topic "Dependence on drugs, alcohol, gambling in the context of domestic violence” held in Women’s Support centre in Senaki.

The meeting was very interesting and fruitful. It was attended by the representatives of IDP society, lawyers, journalists, district police and chairperson of the local self-government, invited as an expert.

After provision of the information by experts there were held interesting discussions. Participants expressed an idea on conduction of the joint campaign with representatives of government to raise awareness of the youth on the aforementioned topic that would faciliate formation of healthy values.

"The main is that society should not be indifferent to the problem”, "State should define certain politics” – was told at the meeting. Most of participants welcomed this initiative.

On June 27 in Women’s Support Centre in Tskhaltubo was carried out a Round table on the topic "Dependence on drugs, alcohol, gambling in the context of domestic violence”. The meeting was attended by specialists, IDP groups from different collective centres, representatives of intelligentsia, journalists.

Meeting started from provision of information by invited experts that was followed by discussions among attendees. There were expressed interesting opinions: "There are many problems in such families. Children in such families feel themselves rejected by society, they have complex of inferiority”.

Participants mentioned that social sphere is the basis of such problems, though values of society, attitude of State to the problem also play a vital role that, unfortunately, was fixed at the meeting: despite the invitation, representatives of official structures had not come to the meeting.

The School of Young Women-Leaders of Fund "Sukhumi” turned over the first page of its history.

After the meeting of the Round table carried out on the first day there was organized a training on the topic of women’s leadership. 24 active girls tried to show their possibilities. Through groups works, different role games, discussions, and presentations every participant of the training had possibility to express her position and view.

"It’s obvious that they have an ambition of becoming leaders, but at the same time they should realize that not everything is so easy. The School of leaders will give them opportunity to use their potential in the right direction”.

Participants could not hide their satisfaction with the training. The training gave them much: they made new friends from different cities and learnt about their visions, learnt to listen to each other and appreciate other’s opinions, acquainted with the rules of group works.

In completion of the training members of the School were given the first home task according to which they should conduct qualitative and quantitative research in their cities and submit them by the end of July.

-  As a refugee I was proud listening to women who went through the conflict in Abkhazia and did not lose courage, on the contrary  they started to make carrier from anew and became successful – this was the mood of the Young Women-leaders’ School students in conclusion of the Round table.

The Round table meeting was held in Kutaisi, in the hotel "Tiripebi”. Participants of the meeting were young women selected from the trainings held in Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Khoni, Poti, and Senaki.

The way to success, obstacles and methods of their overcoming, objectives that may be achieved through everyday struggle and hardworking. With bated breath participants listened to interesting stories and details from the lives of women-leaders – Meri Gelashvili, Nanuli Ramishvili, Nato Bendeliani, and Izolda Khasaia. In conclusion there was held a discussion and young women asked women leaders many questions.

Stories of the successful women positively charged the training room. Members of the School made many notes, remembered much and learnt much from them.

The topic: "Involvement of civil society in the process of peaceful resolution of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict”.

Society (representatives of local authorities, students, IDP society, scientific intelligence, representatives of public organizations, journalists), gathered under the aegis of Fund "Sukhumi” at the Round table in Batumi, were acquainted with the results of discussions carried out by experts invited by Fund "Sukhumi” and tried to fix their positions around the issues discussed at the meeting.

Atmosphere at the meeting there was sincere and constructive. Attendees had many common opinions.

All welcome the course of peaceful resolution of conflict declared by the government, perspective of kind relations with Abkhaz people. For this in their opinion, it is necessary to comprehend bilateral meetings in the context of common history – views based not only on emotions and propaganda. Live examples, sited by participants gave reason for optimism.

There were also defined conciliation resources, factors, contributing to estrangement and separation.

There was expressed special concern of the fact that the conflict became a polygon for geopolitical games, during which low efficiency of international institutions and necessity of modernizations becomes more obvious.

Strengthening of internal diplomacy contributing to People’s Diplomacy, use of economic resources of diasporas, struggle with estrangement between youth, reformation of "media-language”, conduction of far-sighted internal and external politics, aimed at future – this is a list of questions raised at the Round table.

Officially Georgia numbers 200000 drug-abusers, though this statistic is quite relative”, "Unfortunately drug addition is constantly "becoming younger”, "Compared with previous years the level of drug use has been increased by 10%”, "Alcoholism is also great threat for families”, "Affection for gambling has become fashionable”.

-  On the background of this disturbing statistic, students, representatives of law enforcement bodies, psychologists, sociologists, human rights defenders, experts gathered in the office of Fund "Sukhumi” discussed the seriousness of the problem of dependence on drugs, alcoholism and gambling in Georgia, and why it is threatening for every person, members of families and friends, physical and psychological health.

"It is impossible to indifferently observe how gene pool and future of your nation destroy, how families break up”. "Every person, all State structure should unite and declare permanent war on all that threatens future of our society”.

Dialogue between Georgian, Abkhaz and Ossetian societies is almost interrupted in Georgia. Search of the new peace ways and active participation of women in peacemaking activity becomes more and more important. Women IDPs from Ossetia and Abkhazia are uniting and starting work actively for the sake of peace and security, rebuilding of confidence.

On the 4th of May in the office of Fund "Sukhumi was organized a Round table on the topic "Increasing of women’s role in the process of peace resolution of conflict and rebuilding of confidence”. Organizers of the meeting were Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi” and Union of Wives of Invalids and Lost Warriors of Georgia”.

-      We have the same pain. Only together, supporting each other we can find ways for reconciliation with Abkhazians and Ossetians. Only through solidarity we can achieve peace and security, - was told at the meeting.

At the end of the Round table there was adopted a Memorandum on creation of public union "Women for Peace and Security”. Having signed the Memorandum women IDPs from Abkhazia and Ossetia clearly expressed their readiness for joining this movement.

 We – women IDPs from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region, participants of the Round table (held on March 4th, 2010, Kutaisi) on the topic "Increasing of women’s role in peace resolution of conflict and rebuilding of confidence” organized by Cultural-Humanitarian Fund "Sukhumi” and Union of Wives of Invalids and Lost Warriors” realizing necessity of women’s participation in the process of building democratic State and civil society in Georgia;

Considering that increase of women’s participation in decision making processes will have positive influence on the future development of society;

Realizing and confirming important role of women in establishing of security, confidence, resolution and prevention of conflict;

Emphasizing women’s equal participation in efforts aimed at keeping of peace and security and necessity of increasing their role in conflict prevention and in decision making process connected with conflict resolution;

Confirming necessity of women’s resource integration at all levels of public life;

Create women’s movement "Women for Peace and Security”. The purpose of this movement is to support women’s active participation in peace resolution of conflicts and restoration of confidence;

And express wish for joining women’s movement "Women for Peace and Security” and use own experience and skills to establish security in the country and peace resolution of conflicts in Georgia.

Women’s movement "Women for Peace and Security” is based on equality principles. Any woman who wants to be actively involved in peace processes of the country and who feel necessity of women’s resource integration in the given direction, can join this movement.
