"No to violence, no to arms!” – this is the main message of the radio broadcast made by Fund "Sukhumi” and aired on live of radio "Dzveli kalaki”. The broadcast covers the international campaign "Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence”, positions of IDP participating in the activities held by the Fund within the campaign in Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Ozurgeti and Khurcha.

Respondents talked about the pain caused by abuse of guns, uncontrolled arms, especially for women and children.

- During wars and in post conflict period women’s rights are often infringed therefore we are against any form of violence, - say the respondents.

The broadcast showed the importance of the security and the common opinion of the participants: gun violence can be avoided only by eradicating uncontrolled arms.

Meetings on the theme "Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence” were held in 10 Collective Centre of Khoni Military town.

IDPs were provided with the information about the international campaign against gun violence organised by IANSA Network in June 13-19.

Organizers of the meetings emphasided that special attantion during the campaign is paid to gender thematic since women suffer most of all during the conflicts. Participants also talked about frequent facts of gun violence  among teenagers.

Young persons were especially active during the meetings. They distributed  leaflets and posters prepared by Fund "Sukhumi”.

IDPs talked about their pain caused by uncontrolled arms and war. There was expressed an opinion that control on arms should be strengthened and everyone should be solidar in the struggle against gun violence.

During the Global Week of Action Against Gun Violence mobilizators of Poti Women’s Support Centres conducted meetings with IDPs living in the building of the former Training Centre.

During the meetings IDPs recollected the days when they were compelled to leave their homes in Abkhazia. They said that war and gun violence have caused them incurable pain, brought physical and material losses.

One of the participants said: "As a result of war my psychical health has been suffered severely. I needed long time to return to normal life. We don’t want violence, war and bloodshed. We want peaceful future for our children!”
