Does
conflict and post-conflict period cause increase of cases of domestic violence,
what is the situation in the conflict zone, what is the quality of
psychological services - a member of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Volski
shared his views on these and other questions with us. According
to a representative of the organization "Bread for the World", the
problem of violence against women exists in developing countries too.
"But, unlike Georgia, we have a lot of specialized centers where women can
receive appropriate assistance from the State". Representatives
of the Ukrainian non-governmental organizations stress the need for public
policies to address the problem of violence against women. "Woman should have
the opportunity to stay in a shelter with her children, to undergo
rehabilitation and get back to a normal life". In his
interview, an Ombudsman adviser notes that in recent years the number of
applications has increased due to the raised awareness among citizens". What
is the attitude of media to the subject of violence - journalists of press,
radio and television are supporters of a critical and socially oriented
attitude to the problem. According to them for journalists it is important to cooperate
closely with non-governmental sector for greater awareness of the problem. The project is implemented with the support of the
