Peace is especially important for the IDPs from Abkhazia, because of this, the activists of the fund “Sukhumi” always celebrate international day of peace.
On September 21, WSCs of Tskaltubo and Poti conducted actions like the other Women Support Centers.
“Joint Efforts for the Peace” – this was one of the slogans of action participants. Peaceful signal of the residents of Tskaltubo and Poti was joined to the voices of peacekeepers of the world.

-Peace to families, peace to the countries, peace to the world! – With this slogan the activists of the Women Support Centers supported the peace. Despite of rainy autumn weather, they gathered near the Youth Park and conducted the action devoted to the international day of peace. The doves were flying above the park, that was symbolic.
International day of peace is celebrated since 1982.
The action was joined by the passersby. They were congratulating each other to the day of Virgin Maria saying, that peace is holly and each person must act against the war and violence.
At the end of action the participants raised the kites in the sky…

Two years ago, on November 25, members of Ozurgeti GAC took part in the festival of national kitchen, which was held at Abkhazian Administrative boundary, village Khurcha (Zugdidi Municipality). The members of the club hosted the guests with thy dishes from Guria.
On September 6, the festival of national kitchen was held at Georgian - Ossetian boundary – village Perevi (Sachkhere municipality), organized by: the association “Tourism for Peace and Development”, association “Peaceful and Business Caucasus”, Caucasian net for Business and Development…
Ozurgeti GAC of the fund “Sukhumi” presented delicious Gurian kitchen with the support of the government. The festival was participated by the social services of Ozurgeti municipality and the City Hall, the ensemble “Three Gurian Brothers”.
“Youth for peace and equality” – with this slogan, by the initiative of youth net of the fund “Sukhumi” competition in mini football was conducted. It was participated by youth groups of Kutaisi, Khoni and Tskaltubo, comprising of boys and girls.
At the end of competition, all participants were awarded by the diplomas. The winner – team of Tskaltubo “Shevardeni” was awarded by the special award of the fund “Sukhumi” – sport cup. It will stay in Tskaltubo youth center and have honorable place there.
By the opinions of the participants it was symbolic action, where the youth expressed their position lewdly, that they are ready to live healthy life-style and actively work for peace and equality.
The youth net will remind about him to the society in future too.

On June 20, at 16.00 in the park of Veriko Anjaparidze, Kutaisi (near the White Bgidge) fund “Sukhumi” organized the festival “From Abkhazia - to Abkhazia – from rich past - to decent future!” (for celebrating IDPs international day).
Round the Rioni river there gathered NGOs who represent Abkhazian IDP public sector and actively participate for integration and strengthening of IDPs. Pupils of Abkhazian schools (Kutaisi, Senaki, Gali region village nabakevi) organized presentation of their works.
Festival was attended by ye representatives of the Ministries and Abkhazian state structures.
In spite of the windy weather, the festival was lovely and interesting – there were greetings, shows and quiz awarding of exceptional organizations and people.
Children were especially glad; they received prizes for correct answers for the organizers of the festival.
This day made obvious everyday life, which in spite of the difficulties of life try not only became hardship for the country, but be an example by their work and success, civil kindness and professionalism
“Vote for the women”, “We need women in politics” – net for gender equality hold a demonstration in Tbilisi under these slogans.
The aim of the peaceful demonstration was activating the voters in the local self-government election on behalf of the women candidates. The participants talked about women’s role in politics and after that organized walking demonstration to Tbilisi Sakrebulo.
Women’s demonstration was joined by the party representatives and candidates of 15 June elections.
The demonstration was attended by the representatives of the fund “Sukhumi”.
On June 1 and 2, the fund “Sukhumi” WSC, organized an action in 6 regions of Georgia, devoted to the International Day of Children.
The meetings were held in schools, kindergartens, IDP collective centers. Together with discussing children’s rights, there was fun and joy, colored mood…

Action - "365
days of love" held in Women Support Center of all six towns – Kutaisi,
Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti, in village Khurcha (Zugdidi district) and
Nabakevi (Gali district). On the meetings held in schools and collective
centers it was mentioned that the violence is evil and we should unite against
it! Participants of the meeting were provided with information booklets and red
balloons.

A teacher of the
school # 6 of Abkhaz Autonomous Republic (in Kutaisi) Maia Esartia held an open
lesson within the framework of the campaign.
Representatives of
Fund "Sukhumi” invited to the event told about the campaign and gave
informational materials, notebooks and calendars to schoolchildren.
No - violence! – this
was the theme of the lesson.
Pupils of the
7th-10th grades made slides and stands with slogans: "Violence is
evil!", "No – trafficking!", "Let’s protect women and
children!", "I want to understand my rights". ..
At the lesson there
was emphasized that a great role is assigned to school in the formation of
child. Schoolchildren want to know better their rights and responsibilities.
On the second day of
the action the girls from Kutaisi Young Leaders’ School of Fund "Sukhumi” held
an informational action in the centre of the city – in the most crowded place,
where they distributed leaflets, white ribbons and informed many people about
the campaign.
In Senaki young
leaders organized a clean-up action in the park. They attracted passers’-by
attention with informational materials and talked about the 16 Days of Activism
Against Gender Based Violence Campaign.
The Youth Center of
Senaki offered an unusual sight - a flashmob to the residents of the city.
There were lots of people who know learnt about the campaign and the importance
of every person’s participation in violence prevention.

Nobody is surprised by the actions of Fund "Sukhumi", since we
express protest against violence against women in such a manner for more than
10 years.
Kutaisi
At 2 p.m. participants
of the action – members of Fund "Sukhumi”, Fund of Women-Entrepreneurs,
representatives of partner NGOs, activists of Youth Centre, actors of school
forum-theatres, journalists were standing near the Mayor’s office of Kutaisi.
There were more
slogans than in previous years, but the special attention was drawn to one of
them: "Over the past few months
seven women were killed in Western Georgia as a result of violence!
According to the UN,
every third woman in the world is a victim of violence!
SOS – violence is beside
us!
By tradition action
was held in silent.
In parallel there
were distributed leaflets, white ribbons and there were recorded television and
radio interviews.
40 persons –
activists of the Women Support and Youth Centres gathered at the action in
Khurcha.
For the people who
were brought together near to Abkhazia the main slogan of the campaign "From
Peace in the Home to Peace in the World!” has become especially important.
Participants of the
action send a peaceful message to the residents of Abkhazia and the whole
world.
Poti
Together against
violence gathered activists of Fund "Sukhumi" at the action in Poti.
They were joined by representatives of the Gender Network of Samegrelo,
teachers and journalists.

Senaki
A crowded action took
place in Senaki. The protest against violence against women brought together
representatives of different spheres: Municipality Council and Board, the Red
Cross Society, medical workers, city cleaning service, non-governmental
organizations, journalists, representatives of urban schools and schools of the
resort Mendji.
The action drew
attention of the whole city through many supporters and relevant slogans.
Tskhaltubo
By tradition the
action began in the central park of the city. Then the action participants
moved to the Sports Palace, where was held a flash mob.
Participants of two
events united – they declared about the campaign and distributed leaflets, calendars,
and posters.
Participants of the
flashmob continued their performance with white ribbons.
Khoni
Here, in the central
square of the city gathered about 40 persons, including young women and men.
Slogans and different
materials informed population of the city about the campaign.
Participants of the
action divided into groups and distributed dozens of leaflets in shops, banks,
and markets.
Young people mobilized within the framework of the
project "Youth initiatives in the local community", identified
relevant issues in their community and advocated for their solution - the
problem related to the polluted territory of Nakhakhulevi and Matkhoji. They
wrote a letter to the chairman of Khoni Municipality Council demanding
installation of dumpsters.
In parallel, they held an action on cleaning of the
territories near the schools of Nakhakhulevi and Matkhoji. Local young people
actively involved in the campaign.

The
Youth network of Fund "Sukhumi" joined Days of Peace (October 24-29),
declared by the UN and OSCE, with the action of "Flowers”.
Leaders
of the Youth centers of Kutaisi, Senaki, Khurcha, Poti, Khoni and Tskhaltubo
gathered in the centre of Kutaisi and held a peaceful action on the White
Bridge. They chose flowers as a symbol of the action and attracted public’s
attention.
Passers-by,
people of different ages, showed their support in different ways: some took
pictures of the action participants, and some, as a sign of support, took
flowers and slogans: peace, harmony, no - war...
Participants
of the action went down to the bank of the river Rioni and dropped flowers into
the water...
- The purpose of the action was to join the
voices of peacemakers around the world. We give flowers, as a symbol of peace, to
the river, which flows into the Black Sea. In this way we want to bring our
peacekeeping signal to the world, - say the initiators of the action.

Fund "Sukhumi" celebrates the
International Day of the Girl Child with the photo action. A photo call was
organized on October 11 in the youth centers of the six cities of Western
Georgia (Kutaisi, Senaki Tshaltubo, Tshaltubo, Khoni, Poti) and in the village
Khurcha (Zugdidi district). Through photos young people expressed their protest
against all forms of violence against women and showed that they are against gender
imbalance in the family, discrimination, and early marriages, and that children
should grow up in a safe and loving environment.
According to the UN Resolution which was adopted
on October 11, 2012, the International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated
every year on the 11th of October. The purpose of this day is to draw
attention to the problem of gender imbalance between boys and girls, which
results in unequal access to education and health care, poverty,
discrimination, and forced marriages all over the world.
Such messages were submitted by the peaceful action
participants. The action was organized in the new IDP settlement in Tskhaltubo.
The organizers were members of an initiative group of the Youth centre of Fund
"Sukhumi”.
The population was provided with informational
leaflets, which explained the meaning and functions of the road signs.
Through this action participants reminded society that
drunk driver is a risk to human life. This is what creates the basis for the
protest.
Local citizens joined the initiative too. Drivers
moving in this area also showed their support and have accidently become participants
of the action.
The relevance of the problem was conditioned by often
car accidents in Tskhaltubo.
Prior to the action there was held a debate on the
topic "Youth for the protection of life”.
Members of debate club discussed internet statistic
based on which one of the serious reasons of car accidents is a drunk driver.
In the opinion of young people, human life is the most valuable and no one has
the right to encroach on it.

In Batumi, on Bartskhana area there was carried out clean-up action
"This is my city!"
Activists of the Club of Women-Voters were joined by local residents,
students, pupils and the headmastership of public school # 17.
The civil initiative of Batumi Club of Women-Voters was supported by the
Mayor's Office, and an appliance shop Techno Boom handed T-shirts to
participants of the Action in sign of solidarity.

A group of civil initiative of Kutaisi Club of Women-Voters of Fund
"Sukhumi" actively continues the campaign for the preservation of an
ancient city’s decent appearance.
On the 5th of June - the World Environment Day, activists of
the club, partner NGOs, students I. Javakhishvili and A. Tsereteli Universities,
pupils of different schools, representatives of the Green Movement
"Friends of the Earth" held an Action supported by the local
government and cleaned areas nearby the city center.
During the Action there was carried out a procession with special
banners, as well as drawing on asphalt, reflecting participants' attitudes
towards the environment.
The Action ended with an impressive show - the participants released
colored balloons into the sky - as a symbolic message to society – we should
protect our environment, take care about the ecological culture.
Mass media expressed a particular interest in the action - TV
"Rioni" dedicated special TV plot to this event.
