"Involvement through cooperation” – what does Strategy mean, how far effective and acceptable it will be for Abkhaz and Ossetian sides, what are women’s opinion about separate paragraphs, which sphere in Action plan will be priority and may become the beginning of cooperation – these and other issues were discussed at a three-day training held in Batumi. Participants of the training were trainers of Fund "Sukhumi”, project assistants, girls-leaders.

Most of participants were not well acquainted with the aforementioned document. Consideration of this document according to paragraphs significantly increased the level of their awareness that was well shown during group works and presentations.

According to evaluation of training participants the training was productive. In their opinion they could freely express their positions.

The training was very interesting for those participants who knew well the Strategy. In their opinion, it was especially interesting to discuss the document from women’s view since gender issues in the Strategy are not taken well into consideration.

According to trainers’ evaluation, the training objective has been achieved. Despite some difficulties there were recorded many interesting and new ideas.

A group of trainers of Fund "Sukhumi” held a regular training on the topic of domestic violence in the Women’s Support Centre of Poti.

Participants of the training were IDPs living in Poti.

During three days there was carried out interesting and intensive work. Participants had possibility to get information about domestic violence, communication, theory of conflict, obtain qualified advices from psychologist and lawyer. At the same time they shared life experiences, ideas about healthy communication and harmonic relations.

"It’s pleasant to have possibility to share opinions, analyze and estimate thing which seemed unimportant to us”.

"I know many women who would look at their life in another way and change something in their life after such training”.

Beneficiaries expressed wish for keeping cooperation with Fund, involve as much people as possible.

By the initiative of Fund "Sukhumi” a three-day training was held in Batumi with participation of the members of the Clubs of Women-Voters from Batumi, Ozurgeti, Tskhaltubo, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Khoni, Khobi, Poti (two representatives from every club).

The topic of the training was "Training women for participation in local self-government elections”.

What are particular qualities which distinguish women-leaders from men-leaders? What is the reason of the shortage of women’s solidarity? Why people do not vote for women-candidates? – the training started with active discussion of these issues.

The next day of the training began with consideration of Election Legislation and the Law about local self-government.

The last day participants of the training elaborated workshop module.

They mentioned that the 3-day work of the training was productive:

-  The work was interesting. We looked at the topic of women’s leadership from different positions and reconsidered much.

-  There are many changed made in the Law. Knowledge of Laws will help us be qualified in any issue and be actively involved in election process.

According to the project participants of the training will carry out workshops in their cities. They will work with different groups of society and acquaint them with the Law about local self-government and changes made in Election Legislation.

From March 19 to 20 in Women’s Support Centre of Poti was held a screening training of Fund "Sukhumi” on the topic "Effective relations and conflict management”. 15 young women IDPs participated in the training.

In the beginning of the training participants mentioned that they were looking forward to discussing of the aforementioned topic. During the process of work they showed their leader skills and expressed wish for active participation in peacemaking process.

 

- At the training we could realize our possibilities, express our opinions on each issue, - participants of the training estimated their three-day work.

Fund "Sukhumi” continues conduction of screening trainings for the School of Young Women Leaders. A regular three-day training was held in Women’s Support Centre of Senaki town. Participants of the training were young women aged 16 to 30, living in different collective centres of the town.

They were actively involved in the training program consisting of several topics: women leadership, essence and analysis of conflict, communication.

Participants think that during three days they had possibility to express their opinions and be actively involved in discussion of every issue.

-  I especially liked conflict analysis. I have thought over the importance of right communication in conflict resolution for the first time, - Milana Putkaradze.

-  I have got rid of all complexes. I could boldly express my opinions and now I have ambition to become leader. I think it’s good, - Pikria Chilaia.

Trainers mentioned that it was very difficult for them to define best participants for the school of leadership since the group of participants was very interesting. But Fund "Sukhumi” will continue actively cooperate with the rest of the girls in the future and include them in different measures.

A regular screening training for the School of young women-leaders was held in Women’s Support Centre of Khoni. At the three day training young women had possibility to reveal their opportunities. During practical exercises and role games they showed their leader qualities.

- Of course, not all of us will become students of the Leaders’ school but the training itself is a good school where we can show our possibilities, analyze what we can do, - mentioned training participants.

New students have been selected for the School of Young-women leaders who will carry out active work with the youth in the future.

Training on the topic "Prevention of domestic violence” was held in the office of Fund "Sukhumi” on 23-25 of February. Participants of the training were young people, representatives of NGOs, students and senior pupils.

Family as a social institution, distribution of responsibilities, gender stereotypes, perception of functional roles of man and woman, interpersonal relations in family, conflict in family, reasons and subjects, equality of genders, what is gender violence, family conflict as one of the elements of domestic violence.

These and other issues were discussed during the first block of the training.

Participants were provided with the information about the Law on domestic violence. There were sited examples where victims of violence were women. In the words of participants the reason of violence is that women don’t know their rights.

Stress, subjective and objective reasons of stress, psychological trauma, feelings and emotions of people suffered from psychological trauma – these issues were discussed during the last block of the trainings.

Participants mentioned that they obtained much new and useful information which would help them avoid violence in their future life.

This time screening training for the school of young women leaders was held in Tskhaltubo.

At the tree-day training-seminar girls obtained much interesting information: what is women’s leadership, essence, types and kinds of conflict, communication and its importance.

During the work they used different methods, group exercises, situational tasks, role games. Participants had possibility to actively involve in discussions and express their opinions about the aforementioned issues.

- I am dreaming of becoming member of Young leaders school. There is a good atmosphere at the training enabling to reveal own abilities”, - Mari Kopaliani.

At the completion of the training participants were given homework. They should write essays on the topics: "I want to become a peacemaker”, "I am a leader” during a week.

From 2010 Fund "Sukhumi” started work on the project "Forming and developing of the School of young women-leaders for strengthening of their role in peacemaking and democratic processes in Georgia and awareness raising of society”. At the first stage of the project it is planned to carry out 6 trainings in the cities (Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Vani, Samtredia, Zestafoni). 4 best participants will be selected after each training. They will continue education in the School of leadership (in all 24 participants).

The first screening training was held in Kutaisi. Participants were acquainted with the topic of women’s leadership, considered typology and essence of conflict, importance of communication.

Trainers mentioned that the group of participants was very active. Most of girls were notable for leadership qualities, skills of communication.

At the completion of the training participants got homework: they must write essays on the topic "Woman and peace”. Works will give participants possibility to express their positions.

The next training will be held in Tskhaltubo.

Three-day training on the topic of domestic violence was held for the employees of Fund "Sukhumi” on February 9-11.

What is the basis of violator’s aggression; what interpersonal relations are based on; what the just communication is; what stereotypes break family harmony.

Considering these and other issues participants were very active.

The special interest was fixed towards the elements of forum-theatre when they acquainted with the essence, phases, skills for controlling conflict at different stages through role games.

Psychologist’s block was devoted to defining the roles of victims and violators. A lawyer told about the Law on domestic violence, measures on protection of victims and answered the questions of participants.

Fund employees evaluated the three-day training as productive one:

-   We had possibility to share our opinions.

-   There were trainers, assistants, lawyers. We estimated each other’s work.

-   We watched the considered issue in a different way. This experience will help us in our future activity.

-   This was the stimulus for further work. We worked wholeheartedly.
