TV programme of Fund "Sukhumi" aired on live of "Rioni" on November 26 informed the public about the launch of the 16-day campaign against gender-based violence against women and the planned activities with the participation of activists of Fund "Sukhumi" and numerous partners throughout Western Georgia.
Viewers briefly acquainted with the activities carried out for several years for a positive response to the problem of domestic violence.
What messages are sent to society, how fund "Sukhumi” gains publicity of the campaign, what is the involvement of broader sections of society and social institutions in the campaign: young activists of fund talked about the informational campaign that had already been conducted and its results, as well as about the action, planned to be conducted during the football match on the Stadium "Torpedo Kutaisi".
"I have conducted a lot of programmes for many years, but unfortunately, I’ve never regarded the subject of domestic violence. This topic has become relevant only in the last period and identified the problems of many people".
"A lot of topics have appeared in our radio after cooperation with you, and have earned the public's attention" - journalists of regional media recognize the need for the involvement of media and society.
Interactive showed the attitude of society to the question - Do you think that social informational campaigns can change the attitude of society towards the issue of domestic violence and influence on the problem of violence". As it turned out, most of the audience believes that the public campaigns and awareness raising have a positive impact on the problem solution and promote intolerant attitude to violence.
Activists of the Women's Support Center in Kutaisi met with representatives of Kakhianauri, Dzelkviani and Ukimerioni Municipalities and told them about the international 16-day campaign and participation of Fund "Sukhumi" in the campaign.
They distributed there white ribbons – the campaign symbol and informational materials: calendars, posters, booklets.
The bus station, central park, military town, trade centres, vehicles - citizens in these areas learnt about the campaign and received informational materials.
Activists of Khoni WSC provided passersby with the information about the history and objectives of the campaign.
Mobilizers and activists of the WSC in Senaki held informational action across the town.
Schools, central market and street, and adjoining territory - in these places population of the town learned about the international campaign, its theme and slogan. Materials were distributed with the slogan "Together - Against Violence! Violence is Evil! "
At 12 p.m. in collective centers of IDPs (sanatoriums "Friendship", "Sakartvelo", "Intourist", "Kutaisi" and "Metalurg") was launched an informational campaign.
The objective of the action is dissemination of information about the 16-day international campaign. Mobilizers of the WSC also provided population with the information about the involvement of Fund "Sukhumi", its activists and society in the struggle against violence against women.
Activists of the Women’s Support Centre of Khurcha spread information about campaign and distributed attributes of the campaign in the villages: Khurcha, Koki and Nabakevi.
They answered questions of citizens about the history of the campaign, the involvement of Fund "Sukhumi" and activities of the WSC.
Members of the Club of Women-Voters spread the information about the campaign in local structures of Tskhaltubo, at the central park and in IDP settlement.
Special interest to the campaign was expressed by local population.
Members of the Club of Women-Voters in Senaki distributed booklets, calendars, leaflets printed within the campaign in the building of Sakrebulo and on the nearby territory.

Participants of the action expressed their protest against any form of violence.
Members of Batumi Club of Women-Voters distributed leaflets and booklets covering the 16-day campaign at central streets of the city, in the city hall, drama theatre and in the Government building of Batumi.
The action, that lasted for about an hour, drew attention of the journalists of "Adjara” television. They were provided with the information about the fact that the action is being held simultaneously different cities of Western Georgia and unites society against violence against women.
Within the 16-day campaign active members of Ozurgeti Club of Women-Voters spread the information about the 16-day campaign against violence against women in different institutions of the city (Municipality, city hall, kindergarten № 4). They distributed leaflets, calendars, posters, printed specially for the campaign.
According to the leader of Ozurgeti Club Nana Kekelidze, the action drew public attention. Information on the campaign was provided at the meeting of Ozurgeti municipality Sakrebulo.
Journalists joined the action too. Local newspaper "Alioni" covered the action.
On November
26, at 12:00 pm participants of the School of Young Women-Leaders joined the
information action of fund "Sukhumi" within the 16-day campaign
against violence against women.
In Kutaisi, on Tamar Mepe street, in Tskhaltubo,
on the territory of agricultural market, in Khoni in the school № 4, Senaki, on
Rustaveli Street and in Poti on Agmashenebeli street young women acquainted citizens
with the essence of the campaign and distributed leaflets of Fund
"Sukhumi", calendars, booklets, posters and white ribbons – the symbol
of the campaign.
