The first meeting of Batumi Gender Advisory Council
was organized in the meeting room the City Council. At the meeting there was
told again about the project objectives, defined a strategy of the GAC’s
activity and the work plan.
At the meeting there were elected chairperson and
deputy chairperson of the GAC. There were agreed the main principles of the
GAC’s Regulation. According to the participants they accept a constructive type
of work of the GAC and the focus on the support of social justice, alleviation
of the situation of groups (including female) with special needs, and on the
consideration of gender budgeting.
They said about the importance of inclusion in health
and social projects, whether it is a new initiative or correction of
shortcomings in the existing program. The main thing is to distribute resources
properly and initiate real plans.
According to the members of the local City Council,
they should take into consideration the fact that very little time has left
before the completion of the powers of the City Council of the previous
convocation. So, it is desirable to make maximum use of their resources.
