Journalists from Senaki, actively cooperate with the fund “Sukhumi” – participate in different meetings, prepare materials about activities of gender advisory council.
On December 20, the meetings were held in the TV Company «Egrisi” and newspaper “Kolkheti”. Journalists, representative of the fund “Sukhumi” and member of gender advisory council talked about local gender policy, new projects of gender advisory council, gender accents of media and cooperation development.
1.The story, aired in the radio “Freedom” tell about a round table, organized by the fund “Sukhumi” and Batumi Gender Advisory Council.
How alarming are the scales of domestic violence, how must be the collaboration built among the structures, which are responsible for prevention and victim protection, how important is to involve local government in this process and what role should it have – the respondents fix their position regarding this issue.
2.Ordinary program of “Gender News” touché the issue of action plan of gender policy, elaborated by Batumi Gender Advisory Council. According to the council members, the document is based on research of needs of local civil groups, carried out by the council and fund “Sukhumi” and also to Batumi gender analysis, which gives opportunity to evaluate local gender situation.
It was said that in future local policy action plan will be submitted to local government for discussion.

The radio journalists of the fund “Sukhumi” prepared a story reflecting the changes, received as a result of work. Among them it is very important social acknowledgement of the problem of violence, which is obvious in the interviews of the respondents – the head of the schools speaks about agreement competition of the novels regarding domestic violence. The main specialist of Sakrebulo underlines importance of inter-sectional collaboration and legal and psychological education in schools. The representative of social service agency expresses his opinion regarding increasing number of asylums and speaks about using mechanisms of the law.
The radio story reflects also activities of the forum-theatre of the fund “Sukhumi”, which promotes the formation of an irreconcilable attitude to the problem of domestic violence.

The School of Leader Girls of the fund “Sukhumi” prepared the fifth group of graduators. The girls gathered on the final workshop to evaluate a year of activities.
What changes and successes were achieved, what influence they had on society – for receiving answers to these questions, the participants worked in groups according the cities. The meeting was attended by the leaders of youth centers also, who summarized the network activities.
Informational meetings and discussions in schools, universities, collaboration with local self-government, peaceful actions, sport activities, competitions, more than 50 activities in the campaign of 16 active days…the results showed influence on changes, which were implemented in all 6 cities as a results of their activities.
Finally the members of leader girls’ school were awarded with diplomas and certificates.

On December 19, in Women Support Centers of Senaki, network meeting of the mobilizers was held. The attendants spoke about the work, carried out in reporting period in direction of domestic violence monitoring.
They exchanged opinions regarding further strengthening of Women Support Centers.

Kutaisi bureau of the radio “Freedom” got interested in activities of Gender Advisory Council of Kutaisi. What does the gender budget mean, what is the composition of recommendations submitted to the self-government, what will be envisaged in 2015 budget, how was the work carried out in direction of action plan of local gender policy and what are the basic principles of the document. – these were the issues, discussed by the council members and representatives of self-government.
With the help of the Club of Voter Women in Batumi, this year the women became more active, they attended meetings in Sakrebulo, participated in studying and advocating problems of local population – thus was summarized a year of work.
Through advocacy, conducted by the club members, several families will receive wood for winter, the system of lightning will be installed in the rehabilitated settlement of the IDPs.
The members of Batumi Women’s Club elaborated a package of problems. The most actual problems were revealed: problem of water and barracks in the settlement of Tamar, compensation for the victims of the disaster, assisting of the people, damaged after the fire in the market of khopa.
The club will start solving the mentioned problems from the next year.

On December 18, in the Center of Democratic Engagement of Batumi a round table, organized by the GAC and the fund “Sukhumi” was held on: “Protection of domestic violence victim and prevention of violence – local international collaboration”. The meeting was attended by the representatives of NGO sector, police, social workers, teachers, youth, City Hall, public groups.
As it was said on the round table, the problem is also obvious in the region of Adjara and relevant measures should be carried out. It is important to use existing mechanisms of law, which is impossible without close cooperation and communication among the structures.
Where are the “weaknesses” in assistance of the victim, prevention of violence, how important is informing the society, education, what is the role of different sectors, especially local government in direction of problem solution – numerous interesting opinions were announced during the meeting, which will be reflected in the re
commendations and submitted to the relevant structures.
It was said that public discussions should be systematical.

The radio story told that new phase of the project “gender advisory councils – raising of women’s role for social changes in the regions” has started. How do the chairpersons and participants evaluate conducted work, what was shown during a meeting of GAC and gender equality council members of the parliament. According to vice-speaker of the parliament - Mrs. Manana Kobakhidze, it is a merit of the fund “Sukhumi” that this meeting and discussion between the deputies of parliament and local government on the issues of gender equality was held. Strategies of future collaboration were elaborated. She positively evaluated the attempt to establish gender advisory councils of the local leval.
Representatives of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Senaki councils talked about results of a year activities. First of all these are concrete budget suggestions, which are based on gender budget principles.
On December 16, an ordinary meeting of the Voter Women’s Club in was held the fund “Sukhumi”, which was attended by 18 women with new members among them.
The attendants spoke about conducted activities, involvement in 16 day campaign, gender advisory council and importance of the club in the work of gender advisory council.
Future meetings were planned in direction of advocacy of different social problems among them.
On December 16, the block of the Radio “Freedom” “Gender News” reflects the activities conducted by the fund “Sukhumi” in frames of the campaign and besides, pays attention to the results of organization activities: growth of number of women, who received consultations of the lawyer and psychologist, activation of the local government, public discussions, forum-theatres, creation of the view among the youth regarding the fact that it is important to rule the conflict and have healthy communications.

In the women Support Centers of Senaki, Kutaisi and Khurcha (Zugdidi), psychologist of the fund “Sukhumi” conducted conversations on: “World without violence” and “Healthy relations”.
The psychologist suggests remembering what healthy relationship is:

A month ago the IDPs, residing in the Hotel “Kolkhida” – Menji, expressed a will to have detail information regarding the order No 320 of the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation, with the criteria of satisfying the IDPs with living spaces.
On the meeting in December they heard information and leaflets of how the refugee families are given the scores.
With the help of the lawyer, the IDPs wrote a statement to the Minister – Sozar Subar. They demand to expertise the building, as they consider that the living space is damaged needs rehabilitation.
At the same time they received answers regarding other legal issues.
In public school No7 of Senaki the debates on actual issue “Bulling – new terminology, but already known type of violence” was conducted
Senaki is the third school where the debates were devoted to the mentioned problem. It appeared that most of the pupils even once appeared in the ironic situation that often caused conflicts and aggression among the pupils.
On the initiative of the youth network leader, an enquiry will be held, which will show the percentage of bulling in the schools of Senaki. The group of volunteers will be created, which will conduct work-shops in the schools on the issue of tolerance. It will be the step for prevention of such form of violence.

The club of Voter Women once again raised the problems of IDPs from Abkhazia. The territory, which was cleaned with involvement of the fund “Sukhumi” in last Summer is again dirty.
It was mentioned that water supply system in rehabilitated buildings of the IDPs needs repairing. With the aim of problem solution, the members of advocacy group address Senaki Gender Advisory Council.
The club members drew future plan. They are going to involve members of local government, GACs, NGOs and media in problem solution.
In frames of the campaign of 16 active days the topic of the meeting with the youth was international documents (UN resolutions and the Beijing Platform), which promote to protection of women’s rights.
The issue was new for number of participants. The students of Kutaisi and Zugdidi Universities, also the youth, who were met by the assistants in Tskaltubo, Senaki, Khoni and Poti were involved in the activities.
Informational sheets were spread on the meetings. At first the discussions were not active, but the participants step by step realized the issue, meaning of these documents and expressed their opinion:
“The meeting raised a will to learn more about these issues”.
“Such meetings are interesting, new topic, culture of discussion, inter-active and group work gives us experience of communication, publicity and activeness”.
The girls conducted additional informational meetings in their schools.

On December 11, the 12-th meeting of Kutaisi GAC was held.
The council members actively discussed Kutaisi gender policy and took a decision and the recommendations were submitted to the government for further discussion.
