Representatives
of Fund "Sukhumi" attended the meeting of Batumi City Council on
December 27, where the local 2014 budget was adopted.
The budget amounts
to GEL 99,7 million, which is much less than the sum of the previous year, so
priorities were defined during discussions.
According to
the City Council members, one third will go to infrastructure projects. 25% will
be made available for education, culture and rehabilitation of recreation
facilities.
Discrepancy
was caused by the project of "cheap house" (the project of privileged
housebuilding). It was agreed that in the near future the project criteria will
be defined in detail.
Priority was
given to health care and social programs. The salary of kindergartens’ staff will
be increased (up to 80-100 GEL for 1,000 employees). There is defined
cooperation with non-governmental organizations and their support.
Despite the
fact that the budget has not been evaluated in terms of gender indicators, it
can, in case of the political will, take into account the needs of different
groups. The proof of this is the fact that at the meeting a large Gogitidzes’
family was given a good Christmas gift - an apartment key.
The
project is implemented with the financial support
