The role of the VWC, evaluation of the activities for the last year, collaboration with Ozurgeti GAC and media in advocacy of local population problems – thee issues were discussed on the club meeting in the Center of Democratic engagement of Ozurgeti.

The meeting was conducted in different format. Representatives of different media sources of Ozurgeti were invited. It was mentioned that the club knows the problems of population and promotes to their solution with the support of local government, GACS and journalists.

The meeting also raised a question of former prisoner – women. The club members plan to advocate the problem with the aim of rehabilitation and integration of these women.

The issues of transportation and situation in the kindergartens were often raised by the VWC of Kutaisi, because of theta the member of Sakrebulo David Tsitaishvili was invited on the meeting, who oversees the issues of transport and education.

The conversation touched the issues of unsatisfactory work of transport, control of microbus lines, unloading of stations. As it was mentioned, for solution of mentioned problems, more involvement of the State is essential.

It was decided that building of two new kindergartens is planned from the next year, also adding the staff, checking the psychologists and logopedists.

Old and new members of the Voter Women’s Club gathered in the women Support Center. The members of Sakrebulo were also invited: Dinara Khukhua, Koba Kilasonia, Jumber Lashkarava and Eliso Tsaguria.

There was once again mentioned the problem of the IDPs residing in the Sanatorium “Menji”. They live in unbearable condition, without information about their future.

It was decided, that the members of Senaki VWC and GACs will be involved in advocacy of mentioned problem. Sakrebulo of Senaki Municipality will address the Ministry of IDPs and Resettlement.

 An active members of the Club of Women-Voters – a speech therapist – Tamar Dumbadzehasd been promoted. She will be the head of the Social Department of the Mayor’s office in Ozurgeti. A regular meeting of the Club started with this pleasant information at the Centre of Civic Engagement in Ozurgeti.

The Club members emphasized that there are many social problems in Ozurgeti which need to be studied and addressed and they rely on the support of their team member Tamar Dumbadze.

The women of Ozurgeti were also speaking about their future plans. On the 5th of September they will participate in the Festival of national dishes that will be held in Perevi.

Advocacy of local population problems, involvement and participation of the VWC members in Sakrebulo meetings – the discussion round these issues was held in the conference hall of the Fund “Sukhumi”.

Participants of the meeting discussed actual problems of education, health-care and transport spheres and mentioned that attendance of Sakrebulo members on the meeting is essential for solution of these problems. The important fact also is knowledge of local programs, budget and informing the population.

The club members paid attention to ecological problems too. The members plan to research the polluted territories of the city and raise a question in relevant structures in future.

Members of the Club, who were brought together at the Women Support Centre of Senaki, told about the results of the issue that had been advocated by them – the problem, which concerned IDPs residing in the sanatorium “Menji” for years, has been solved. Now IDPs are provided with the drinking and technical water (members of the Club raised this problem in media, at local government, they applied to the Ministry of refugees and accommodation with the letter).

In the future members of the Club will advocate for the issue of rehabilitation and gasification of several streets of the town.

On the ordinary meeting of Batumi VWC, there was raised a problem of socially unprotected families.

-We live in awful conditions in barracks. Water supply system is amortized; I have to enter the WC with umbrella. We several times addressed relevant structures, but in vain – say the people, who live in unbearable conditions.

-VWC plans to involve Batumi GAC and local media in problem solution.

In local self-government of Ozurgeti 12 women will be employed (5 in municipality Sakrebulo and 7 – in city Sakrebulo), this pleasant news began ordinary meeting of VWC. It is worth noting that during last four years, there were only three women presented in Ozurgeti Sakrebulo.

Meeting of the club was devoted to local self-government and participation of women.

Members of women club raised a problem of the Khintibidze large family (the family is socially unprotected, 2 of them are disabled, they live by rent, they need urgent financial and other assistance). The club members plan to conduct charity event for support of this family.

On the ordinary meeting of Senaki WVC there were raised problems of IDPs, residing in the collective centers of the resort “Menji”: there is no water supply, sewerage system is damaged, bunker is amortized... the problems in health sphere was mentioned – majority of IDPs have no possibility of relevant free examination and treatment.

Club advocacy group will address local self-government regarding and the Ministry of health of Georgia with concrete issues.

The meeting in the village Mendji raised a main problem of the IDPs – residing in the hotel “Kolkheti”. As Liana Shulaia told, because of amortized water supply system, the population is not provided by the water, they carry it from the neighboring wells. The problem was several times raised to the representatives of different structures, but in vain. The problem was aired by the journalist George Siradze the same day (see attached at)

The meeting also touched a problem regarding inhabitants of Javakhishvili Street. As the mentioned street is of different relief location, it needs rehabilitation.

The GAC of the Fund “Sukhumi” will be involved in the advocacy of the problem.

Topic – local self-government elections and gender situation in the City, work of advocacy group – results and future plans.

The meeting was held in Ozurgeti Sakrebulo, with attendance of 15 club members. Among them women candidates: Lela Natsvaladze – “Burjanadze - democrats” No1, Irina Sajaia – “United Georgian Movement” no1, Tamar Dumbadze – “Georgian Dream” No4.

The women candidates, who are the first in the list have a hope to win – club members will support them.

Club members mention that each meeting gives something new to them and gives them more motivation.

The meeting of WVC was attended by representatives of local media.

The lawyer Tamar Pachulia familiarized the meeting attendants to the changes in the election law. The members of the WVC received answers to all interesting questions.

Sakrebulo member – George Shavgulidze spoke about necessity of comfortable entrances for unable persons in the polling stations. It was mentioned that in about 50 polling stations there will be made panduses.  Sakrebulo has already allocated finances

The meeting again raised a problem of transport. The club members conducted enquiry and wrote statement in Kutaisi City Hall regarding comfortable transportation not only in the day time, but in evenings too.

Advocacy group raised a question of club member - onchologycal patient – Nani Baladze. She has no permanent residence, lives in hard conditions, has a disabled son. In spite of the fact, this family was not listed among socially unprotected people.

Advocacy group got interesting with this problem and will try to solve it.

We have addressed the City Hall to involve Nani Baladze in the program of “Cheap Flats”. This program provides socially unprotected people and families without permanent residence with accommodations. We hope that our demand will be satisfied – said the moderator of the voter women’s club – Eter Diasamidze.

Advocacy group also raised a question of 10 year-old sick boy. The group will ask the City Hall a petition with the school to permit the teacher visiting the boy at home. As the club members told, the boy is mentally developed and talented and he needs to get an education.

This time participants of the meeting paid attention to the problem of migration. Emphasis was also placed on the disadvantages in the system of education. Club members elaborated recommendations, including: restoration of evening and correspondence education in Universities, so that young people could work. In the future Club members plan to advocate for issues raised at the meeting.

Despite the New Year's mood, meeting in Senaki Club of Women-Voters did not pass without discussion of problem many of which still remain unsolved, so cooperation with local structure will be continued. The meeting was attended by the women from the Municipality Council this time too.

- Our cooperation is fruitful. Sakrebulo often takes into account our request. On New Year's Eve one of the IDP settlements was provided with the material for roofing, - said the club moderator Dina Giorgadze.

A meeting of the Club of Women Voters was attended by active club members, journalists, and representatives of non-governmental organization "Women for the development of the region" Ozurgeti woman summarized the work of the past year and outlined future plans.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the problem of health care – there was raised the issues of ambulance service. Women noted that they will hold a special campaign, collect signatures, and highlight the issue in the media to improve the quality of service. They hope that the campaign will be followed by the appropriate response.

Members of Batumi club have advocaced for the problem of water supply in the territory of Bendze. Advocacy group members applied to the local structures many times - now population is systematically supplied with water.

A resident of Benze Natia Okropiridze thanked the Club of Women-Voters of Fund "Sukhumi".

 - It is highly encouraging that the club studies problems and finds solutions, - she said.

In the future advocacy group is planning to advocace for the new problems.
