Number of partners of the fund “Sukhumi” increase annually in frames of the campaign of 16 active days. The prove of it a TV show in the air of TV Company “Rioni”, which once again underlined, that violence against women is a crime and it must be objected by the whole society.
The show was attended by the young people, sportsmen, psychologists, lawyers, Scientifics, members of the actions of protest. The most important guests were the couple, who celebrated 50 years of marriage. The idea of the show was also noticeable gender imbalance: majority of the gusts were the men. Most of the facts of domestic violence are caused by the men, so exactly the men must express protest to the existing tendency.

On November 16, a weekly show “7 days” aired a story about the meeting, organized by the fund “Sukhumi” in the Parliament of Georgia. Representatives of Kutaisi, Batumi, Senaki, Ozurgeti Gender Advisory Councils met the members of Gender Equality Councils of the Parliament. During the interviews, representatives of the GACs underlined importance of the meeting, future perspectives of collaboration.
The positions were defined – how do existing councils see working principles of Gender Equality Councils defined by the project of legislative changes.
Weekly analytical program “7 days” once again paid attention on the issue of domestic violence against women.
The story underlined activities of the fund “Sukhumi” to this direction, which claims that tragic facts of following period showed the depth of the problem and weakness of state mechanisms against violence
Importance of the joint efforts of society and the state was once again mentioned.

TV Company “Rioni” devoted special program to the facts, which happened during last period as a result of violence against women. There was announced a statement of the fund “Sukhumi”, which once again underlines the importance of the society and each citizen towards the issue.
The program was followed by the inter-active. The program revealed dangerous tendency – part of society tries to justify the behavior of the men.
As the program participants mentioned, there is much work to do on the legislative level and for raising awareness of the society.
The TV story in the air of TV Company “Rioni” reflects the changes, connected with realization of gender issues in the local government. By the declaration of Sakrebulo chairperson, he is a member of the GAC and together with the colleagues; he will try to maximally envisage recommendations, elaborated by the council in the future budget, though he recognizes that it is impossible to solve all problems in frames of one project. “Sakrebulo is ready to answer the order of GAC and discuss the issues in the gender prism”.
The conversation touched the issue of elaboration of local gender policy, which is actively carried out by the council.
TV “Channel 25” replied the issues, which were discussed by the fund “Sukhumi” and gender advisory council on the round table initiated in Batumi.
The main question was how is the issue of kindergartens connected with the gender issues, what is the position of gender councils towards these issues. The head of the kindergarten No 3 explained, this year they received only 15 children out of 160 ones. Despite this fact, it is worth noting that self-government does everything for protection of material-technical basis and support of learning process.
The initiative of gender council is to develop private kindergartens with support of self-government, in order to make pre-school education accessible for everyone.
The TV program was successful and had announces from the side of parents, as it touched several important issues for pre-school education.

What is gender budget, how it differs from the traditional budget, what does envisaging of gender budget in local programs and projects give and how real are the arguments of gender specialists regarding this. TV “Channel 4” invited the members of Batumi GAC for discussion.
The TV program presented a story about the results of the research, conducted by the fund “Sukhumi” and the council and showed different influences, which concrete program and project has made on women, men or other groups, underlined the needs, what results did the previous program have and how fair was existing resource allocated among different gender groups.
The council members talked about the results, achieved by conducted work, underlined that they appreciate readiness of local government, to collaborate with the council and wait for concrete support from their side, in envisaging recommendations especially in co-financing the social projects, which are planned to be presented in the nearest future.

TV “Channel 4” in Batumi, aired a TV add regarding the public discussion, initiated by Batumi gender advisory council regarding: the service of pre-school education – as the main component of self-government gender policy. What situation is in Batumi in this direction? What problems do the government face? Staff of the kindergartens, parents, what may be the alternative of lack of state kindergartens? Together with the strict discussions, several suggestions were announced: promotion of qualification raising for the staff of kindergartens and increasing of salaries, necessity of health examination of the children, as the guarantee of dangerous diseases prevention, establishment of the social collaboration system between psychologists and special teachers, parents and pre-school premises.

TV Company “Rioni” aired a show, which summarized activities of the Gender Advisory Councils, organized by the fund “Sukhumi”. The show was participated by Kutaisi council members and project assistants. There were TV “bridges”, phone calls from Senaki and Ozurgeti. Members of all three cities had opportunity to summarize previous year and speak about achieved results.
“Gender Advisory Council became a crossroad between society and local authority”, “conducted researches gave us possibility to make lots of hidden problems up to this time, obvious”, “It is nice that number of issues will be shown in new budget projects, e.i. our activities were not in vain”, “Council members, who represent Sakrebulo, can more effectively lobby interesting issues for the society in self-government”. “We have offers from the very officials of local self-government to include them in the council”, “We plan close cooperation with local governmental structures in nearest future”…
Participants of the show touched future perspectives together with achieved results.
Two programs in the TV Company “Rioni” touches day schedule of the GAC existing in Kutaisi Sakrebulo. TV journal “7 days” pays attention to the problems, revealed after the researches – conducted by Kutaisi GAC. As the council members mention, there were interesting suggestions and recommendations made round the problems and they have a hope that new Sakrebulo will pay special attention to the suggested initiatives.
The conversation was regarding the mistakes, revealed after gender monitoring of pre-school premises and it was said that improvement of this issue must be held timely.
On the council meeting they spoke about gender picture of self-government elections. As it was said in the program, this elections was different from the previous one by the fact that more women were involved in the list of parties, there were majoritarian candidates and the women candidates for the mayor – also the women had attempt to be nominated as independent candidate by polling, that was quite loud statement.
The program also told that the council plans close cooperation with new Sakrebulo and the following meeting of GAC will be joined by 5 member group of Sakrebulo.
On June 11-13, in the fund “Sukhumi”, Kutaisi training for the psychologists was conducted with support of the fund «VOGEL STIFTING”. It was the second phase of the training, which was held on September 13-14 of the last year.
The topic of “Using Art Therapy method in psychology, pedagogy and everyday life” was very interesting. Work with mental maps. Mental map-is special techniques of thinking visualization, built on efficient alternative records. In some translations there are different names of the given method: “mental map”, “intellect map”, “memory map”.
Training was held by Natalya Nevidova, practicing psychologist, specialist of art-therapy. Psychologist from the university, schools, kindergartens and NGOs participated in the training (totally 13 persons).
The meeting of newly elected Sakrebulo will be conducted on August 2. It will be opened by the elderly member of Sakrebulo – Nanuli Oragvelidze. She is among those 7 ladies, who became the members of new Sakrebulo and as she mentions, will take active part in important for the city decisions.
Is increasing of women candidates’ number guarantee of positive changes? What are the expectations towards Ozurgeti gender equal Sakrebulo? The story in TV Company “Guria” is devoted to this issue.
“The one, who has not felt the horror of war, will hardly understand the value of peace”, - this is the guideline of the story, which the journalists of TV “Rioni” devoted to the meeting in Senaki GAC. What peace do the women need, how do they see their peaceful role and guarantees of human security protection.
The work-shop was conducted in sincere and open atmosphere. Women of three generation were involved in the discussion:
“Strong public institutions – guarantee of gender safety”
“We will by no means find an outline of peace together with Abkhazian and Ossetian friends”
“We – the women must be very active in order to achieve social prosperity and justice in our society”.

The show prepared in frames of UN and aired by the TV company “Rioni” was devoted to the issue of gender balance in the regions.
What is the attitude of the society toward social equality in the regions, how important is the women’s share in politics, economics, public life, how has the situation changed in comparison with the previous years? How are the NGOs working on women issues evaluate existing situation?
By the statements of the fund “Sukhumi” and “Education and Universe” the situation has changed in comparison with the previous years. We have announced political will and sophisticated legislative basis, more informed and motivated society. In spite of the fact that these elections have not basically changed the situation, we have already seen the women as independent majritarian candidates as well as candidates for the Mayor and governor…we saw more confidence from the side of society, interest from political parties, who found women for strengthening their compositin.
First tangible results of Batumi GAC and local public collaboration
The show aired interesting precedent, which underlines importance of support of youth long-term programs on local level. Youth qualified education and development support was considered as one of the main thing of the research conducted by Batumi GAC and the fund “Sukhumi”.
Research participants named the issues of qualified education experience programs and employment as the main need. “This idea was raised as a result of collaboration with the council and soon implemented it”, - representative of local construction business, Temur Mikeladze included several young people in paid experience program and as he says most of his colleges are ready to support talented youth.

The show in the air of TV “Egrisi” touched ordinary meetings of Senaki GAC. What were the results of local self-government elections, what is the gender composition of the Sakrebulo? What kind of needs was revealed as a result of the research and how is the council going to conduct activities for their solution. With what experiences did the representatives of Ozurgeti GAC visit Senaki - these were the topics, council members and the guests spoke about.
As council members claim, as a result of elections there are 6 women in Senaki Sakrebulo, 4 – of them by proportional list and 2 – majoritarians, which comprises 20% of the members.
As for the results of the research, by the opinion of council member, received material gives opportunity to elaborate relevant strategy for their solution.
The story aired a meeting organized by the members of Senaki WSC “Synergy” of the fund “Sukhumi”, where the women candidates of local government elections and the IDPs residing in the sanatorium “Kolkheti” of Menji, spoke about issues that remain unsettled for years.
The IDPs mentioned numerous living problems, among them not enough spaces, lack of drinking water. Women candidates noted that majority of the problems are familiar for them and in case of winning, they will try to solve them in frames of competence.
Members of the “Synergy” net mentioned that such meetings are too important, as the women are more sensitive to social problems, as for the IDP groups, they grew enough for not only hearing pre-election promises, but also raise problems of the region, make the authority responsible and successfully cooperate with them for solution of several issues.
