What is the reason of migration, which positive and negative results does it have, what is its influence on the country, family and future – these issues were discussed during open debate held in Women’s Support Centre in Poti.
"Of course borders should not be closed in a democratic country, but events taking place in Georgia, are beneath any criticism. According to the estimation of international institutions Georgian policy in regard of those issues is excessively liberal. We think that we don’t have any policy in this direction, that causes great threat to our families, healthy relation between members of families, gene pool of nation, without saying anything about other issues of importance”, - was mentioned at the meeting.
"Parents coming back from abroad are met by estranged children. This is a great tragedy”.
"I know many women whose families were broken of because of forced migration, since their husbands were jealous. Many just keep their families visually, while in fact they are indifferent to each other…”
I graduated from University several years ago, but still I can not find a job. Of course I’ll go abroad, if I have such a chance!”
State should study the situation and take control, see threats and define policy since migration, first of all, threatens future of the nation, - this was the common opinion of the participants.
