“The role of the youth in peacekeeping”, - members of the leader girls’ school conducted 24 work-shops in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Khoni, Senaki, Poti, Zugdidi and Gali. The knowledge gained while the second meeting helped them in facilitation of the work-shop. The event was attended by 360 young people at age of 19-29.

Elaboration of joint projects, which are important for both sides, usage of social network for internet connection, exchange of information, usage of relative contacts, invitation of Abkhazian youth, creation youth camps – these are concrete suggestions of the beneficiaries for restoring Georgian – Abkhazian relations.

The youth came to conclusion that each of them can change future, they expressed a will to be involved in peaceful activities and exchange programs.

There were lots of people in the collective centers as September and learning year has started.

The mobilizers conducted traditional informational meetings in WSCs of Kutaisi, Khoni, Tskaltubo, Poti, Senaki and Khurcha.

The participants talked about peace together with many other issues (domestic violence, resettlement, advocacy of everyday problems). It is essential for normal life. The issue of peace was chosen mainly with the reason that September 21 is international day of peace by the decision of UN.

Representatives of the fund “Sukhumi” met the staff of Ukrainian kitchen “Khutorok” in Kutaisi. They were interested in the living conditions of Georgians and representatives of ethnical minority, what problems do they have, how they are adopted in Georgia.

It was mentioned that Georgian and Ukrainian staff members (12 women out of 15 ones) have similar problems, but in spite of this they have harmonic and friendship relations.

-I am Ukrainian from the side of mother and Russian from the side of mother. I was born and grown up here, I have good relation with the Georgians – mentioned Lyubov Popova.

There also work two IDP women. They live on a former territory of kindergarten. They say that rehabilitation process is started and wait for awarding the premises into possessions.

The questions regarding resettlement were answered by the lawyer of fund “Sukhumi”, who gave suitable recommendations.

On September 28-29, on the meeting of peacekeeper women in Istanbul, the activists of the fund “Sukhumi” and Abkhazian organization AWA spoke about the activity, implemented within the joint project.

The cycle of trainings, round tables and work-shops, regarding the issues of women, gender, peace and human security, by opinion of participants it was very important for the women and girls, as well as for those who were directly involved in the project activities. The women and other groups not only received information, but also learned to identify the problems and managed to advocate several issues.

The meeting participants mentioned that they saw the meaning of raising human security, mainly gender safety to the political level and importance of consolidation of civil groups, different official structures, media and public organizations for ensuring reforms of security sector. They expressed a will to continue the project to strengthen the groups, which have serious problems in the issues of security, also to cooperate with the structures, which can change existing policy and practice.

The meeting was attended by the representative of donor organization, who positively evaluated the effort of both organizations to make the women and girls of their settlement more active for protection of their rights and establishing stable peace.
