On November 25 members of the
Club of Women-Voters of Ozurgeti participated in the Festival of national
cuisine, organized in the village Khurcha, Zugdidi district.

shared their impressions with the attendees of the Club meeting.
- At the festival, we
presented Gurian dishes. Guests from all over Georgia came to our table and
tasted our food.
It is important to mention that the date of
the festival coincided with the date of launching of the 16-day international
campaign against violence against women. We are pleased to have taken part in
this important and beautiful event, said Tsitsi Kupradze, a member of Ozurgeti
club.
Ketevan Kadeishvili, another
member of the club was talking about the situation in terms of the gender
imbalance during the parliamentary elections of 2012. Active members of the
Club said that there are few women in Georgian politics. They consider that there
should be more women on position of Ministers as well as on other leading
positions.

The meeting was held in the frame of the 16-day campaign. Participants got acquainted with information on the events held during the campaign around Western Georgia.
On November 25 members of Zugdidi Club actively joined the campaign through the action - they handed out over 100 leaflets, booklets, and calendars. Population and local self government expressed their positive attitude and support to the action.
Particular emphasis was placed on the issue of domestic violence. Participants discussed reasons of domestic violence, including - social background, migration, unemployment.
The meeting ended with good news - a member of the Club of Women-Voters - Nona Toloraia took the position of Deputy Prosecutor of the region (Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti).
On November 25 members of Ozurgeti Club of Women-Voters took part in the Festival of national cuisine, held in the village Khurcha, Zugdidi district.
At the Festival were presented Kartlian, Imeretian, Abkhazian, Ossetian, Meskhetian, Svan and Russian dishes.
The members of Ozurgeti Club of Women-Voters treated participants of the Festival to delicious Gurian dishes - satsivi, gvezeli, mchadi, cheese, lobio.
Guests of the Festival had the opportunity to taste Gurian wine.
Gurian cuisine deserves special sympathy and activists of Fund "Sukhumi" were awarded certificates ...
In this form the Fund "Sukhumi" began to participate in the 16-day campaign against violence against women.
Meeting of the Club of Women-Voters was held in Batumi in the Center of Civic Engagement. The meeting was attended by 20 women.
The moderator of the Club Natia Kikvadze introduced club members with the information on the continuation of the project, as well as the upcoming 16-day International Campaign Against Gender Based Violence. The Club members will be actively involved in the campaign. They will conduct meetings of Club of Women-Voters, take part in the action: hang poster in the building of the City Hall and at the streets of the city. They mentioned that violence against women is evil and that they will add their voices to the world’s protest.
Advocacy group of the Club is ready to work actively no the solution of local problems.

Meeting of the Club of Women-Voters was held in the Centre of Civic Engagement in Ozurgeti.
Members of the Club, including journalists, teachers and representatives of local government were informed about the project and discussed future plans.
The advocacy group was joined by new members. The group decided to work on relevant issues raised by the members of the club.
Participants of the meeting listed two major issues that concerned the lack of toys and the need for repair work in the sports hall of the kindergartens № 4 and 8 of Ozurgeti.
The attendees also raised the issue of large families. They said that these families are in distress and need social assistance. For this purpose, Club of Women-Voters plans to create a special group in the future to investigate the situation of these families and try to advocate for their issues through cooperation with local authorities.

The Club of Women -Voters has continued its activity since November. The first meeting of the Club was held in the Women's Support Centre of Tskhaltubo. In the activity of the Club were involved new members - women IDPs from Abkhazia.
Attendees got acquainted with the tasks and objectives of the project and discussed activities planned for the year.
Club members hope that their future activity will be even more fruitful. Women are ready to be actively involved in the work of advocacy group. They think that there are many problems at local level and they’ll try to solve them through cooperation with local authorities.
They positively evaluate the work of the last year, and believe that there is a good environment for the next year be more fruitful and productive.

Diasamidze made analysis of annual activity of the Club of Women-Voters.
Activity of the advocacy group was assessed as
positive. During the year the group managed to solve many problems in Batumi
and Kobuleti (restoration of elevators, closing manholes, heating kindergartens).
Members of the Club listed problems that they plan to
advocate in the future (dug roads, exempt students and pupils from paying fare
in public transport).
The meeting was highlighted by TV journalist of the 25th
channel.

Leaders
of the Club reported on their activity carried out during a year.
-Through the Club we deepened our knowledge and made
new friends. During the year we discussed problems of local population and ways
of their solution. Skills acquired at the training (on advocacy) held by Fund
"Sukhumi” helped us to solve several problems, - Izolda Khasia.
-We would like the Club to continue its activity that
will contribute to women’s activation and problem advocacy.

Meeting of the Club of Women-Voters in Poti started
from sharing of information and experience. Members of the Club said that their
activity carried out throughout a year was fruitful.
The meeting was attended by sportsmen of martial arts.
It should be mentioned that the President of the Federation of East Martial
Arts in Poti – Darejan Tskhavitaria is an active member of the Club. She has
been cooperating with fund "Sukhumi” for several years. Many local problems
have been raised and solved at the level of local self government with her
assistance. Sportsmen were acquainted with yearly activity of the Club of
Women-Voters. They said that they welcome women’s activeness in politics as
well as in other spheres including all types of sports.

Club
of Women-Voters of Ozurgeti discussed its yearly activity. Participants of the
meeting made analysis of the carried out activities. They talked sincerely
about problems that they faced during the process of work. After discussing the
problems they highlighted their accomplishments and concluded that, together,
supporting each other, they will be able to solve more problems.
-Here I saw the power of women's unity and
collaboration. We established good relations. It will be nice if we can get the
opportunity to continue the work.
-Familiarization with the information gave women the
opportunity to solve not only common problems, but also problems of their own
families.

Kutaisi Club of Women-Voters continues to advocate for
issues topical for citizens. A
chairperson of the Consumer Federation of Georgia, Mrs. Madona Kiodze responded
the theme discussed at the meeting of the Club with regard to food quality. She
met with the advocacy group of the Club of Women-Voters in Kutaisi.
The conversation touched on basic consumer rights and
consumer culture in general, the importance of proper information about gaps
that exist in this area and search of the ways for the solution of existing
problems, the need for existence of relevant central and local services. There
were outlined prospects for cooperation in the field of study the quality of
baked goods.

What was the support of local self government, and who and what kind of role played
for the solution of the urgent problem raised
at the Club - answering these questions, members of advocacy group presented attendees
the report on annual activity.
The
participants positively evaluated the carried out work and mentioned that they
had managed to properly identify what type of problems can be solved at the
local level, what had a positive effect on the result.
Another problem, that will be solved by the
members of advocacy group with the same activity relates to free travel in
public transport for students from families living below the poverty line.

Meeting
of the Club of Women-Voters in Kutaisi started from the discussion of the
results of annual activity. Members of advocacy group made analysis what kind
of activities were carried out for the solution of the raised problems, talked
about assistance of local authorities in the solution of those problems.
During
the second part of the meeting participants discussed another relevant problem.
Particularly,
in markets and other shops are sold products with the expired date of validity.
Is there any service that would check food quality through monitoring.
At
the meeting they decided to send a letter to the relevant structures, to
provide timely response to the aforementioned problem. In the next phase
members of the advocacy group will try to solve this problem through
cooperation with local authorities.

should be carried out proper policies to involve women in all ongoing democratic
processes in the country".
"Increasing
the number of women in politics is the pledge of stability in the country, but elected
woman should be competent and a professional".
These
words were told at a meeting of the Club of Women-Voters in Kutaisi, where they
clearly emphasized the need to increase women's participation in politics.
In
the second half of the meeting participants talked about various problems
existing in the city. They decided to engage advocacy group in advocating the
solution of two problems. The first concerns controlling products quality, since
consumers often do not know quality of products presented on the market. The
second problem concerned the fact that internal public transport does not work
well in the evening.
The
advocacy group will try to solve both problems through cooperation with local
government.

Active work of
the Club of Women-Voters has been continued. Members of the Club listened to
the report of moderators Natia Kikvadze and Eter Diasamidze. Through the
efforts of advocacy group the City Hall financed the restoration of elevators
in a high-stored building in the settlement of Tamari.
The meeting was
attended by the member of Batumi City Council Nazibrola Kobuladze
(Christian-Democratic Party). They mentioned that parties should pay serious
attention to maintenance of gender balance in their electoral lists that women's
issues were of higher priority in the future.

The meeting was attended by members of the Club of Women-Voters, women
of different professions (journalists, teachers, lawyers).
Advocacy group of five women made a brief report about
their work carried out for the last month.
- The group solved problem of a
woman - victim of violence in local government. As a result, she as a socially
vulnerable mother of three children was provided with one-room apartment.
Club members will raise in the local government the issue of
installation of natural gas in the military town of Khoni. The women hope that through
their efforts, this problem will be solved in the near future.

How young women understand gender equality, what they
think of harmonious relationships - a conversation on this topic was held at a
meeting with young women in Kutaisi. Participants sited live examples of
equality between women and men, and what positive results such relationships
bring in family as well as in society.
- Ethics and aesthetics – this is the topic of the
meeting, organized in Senaki. Participants showed great interest in the theme. They
were explained what is ethics and aesthetics, how important is it, especially
for women. Tne they sited many examples with regard to the subject. In the
second part of the meeting the work continued in interactive mode.
Participants were provided with the information about
the theory, analysis and ways of conflict resolution.
At a meeting held at the Women’s Support Center young
women and girls listened with interest to the information about gender
equality. The meeting was attended by new participants. According to the girls,
it is not easy to establish gender equality in Georgia because of too strong
traditions and stereotypes.
The information about the theory of conflict was also interesting
and new for the participants. Though initially they were restraint, but later got
rid of complexes and were actively involved in discussions.
