"Frankly
speaking we did not expect that our initiative will become so popular and finds
many supporters", - admitted members of the civic initiative group of
Zugdidi Club of Women Voters.
"At
this stage, church actively supports us, so that the issue of improvements of
cemeteries was solved with civic participation and inclusion of local
authorities. Since today it is planned to actively engage media, though we take
note that we are already late - we had to do it before. Our activists are
actively using social networks that everyone had the opportunity to read about
the initiative and respond. We believe that many will join us".
According
to the representatives of local self-government attending a panel dialogue,
after the club had raised this issue, city officials decided to clean up drains
in an urgent manner before fencing cemeteries. As to the initiative, at this
stage the city’s architecture service is
involved in the process to specify the details.
The project is implemented with the financial
support of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia |
