Senaki GAC gathered to conduct a regular meeting.
The Chairperson of Council announced information regarding gender situatuion in the city – mainly: the women, involved in small business, as it is seen, through informal information, 60% of the population, involved in small business are women.
The issue regarding violence against women was also raised.
- Despite of the fact that victims of the violence do not address legislative organs, this does not mean that problem does not exist in the city – mentioned Natalia Khubua - the chairperson of the GAC.
Council members agreed to learn the issue deeply and lobby to create concrete mechanisms for the protection of violence victims.
Council members were delivered a workshop on technics and methods of local gender needs assessment. All council members will be involved in this work, it will start on April, 1.
