The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from 1991. More than 150 countries and 2000 organisations are involved in the campaign. Georgia joined it in 2001.  The main slogan of the campaign is "End violence against women!” Each year the Center for Women's Global Leadership develops a theme for the international campaign in consultation with women's organizations around the world. This year the theme is "Structures of Violence: Defining the Intersections of Militarism and Violence Against Women."

Each year Fund "Sukhumi” participates in the 16 day campaign.

From November 25 till December 10 Fund "Sukhumi” will carry out different measures in Western Georgia.

The calendar of activities planned by Fund "Sukhumi” within the 16 day campaign is here>>>

Khoni

Gambling and young people dependant on them – this theme has become relevant to young people in Khoni. As it turned out, some of the attendees were addicted to such games.

During the debate there was said sincerely that this dependence is especially dangerous for teenagers. There are facts of suicide.

In recommendations there were fixed responsibilities of family, school and state.

Senaki

Conflicts between states and relations among youth – this theme was interesting for the Youth Centre of Senaki.

Participants have fixed that state conflicts often occur because of individuals. In their opinion the youth voice should be strengthened in pre-conflict situation to have a positive influence on both sides.

Poti

The theme of violence in family caused hot debate. Boys were especially active. In their words Georgian mentality is so strong that transformation would take years. Therefore if we really want to change the result, we should start by ourselves.

Khurcha

Khurcha youth centre has chosen the theme of gender equality. According to participants much should be done in this direction since equality is often understood differently - most of women think that everything that happens in their families is natural and should be so.

The project is implemented with the support of Kvinna till Kvinna,
