Khoni group of the Young Leaders’ School of Fund "Sukhumi” carried out a round table on the theme "Violence against children”.

-  Reasons, results, preventive activities – the meeting was held based on this scheme.

Participants said that in families where violence occures children become potential victims. As to the preventive measures participants said that more wide-scaled and coordiated work against the problem is needed to protect children against any form of violence.

The round table was held within the framework of the 16 days campaign. All the participants were given the campaign attributes.

Until the meeting in Ozurgeti Municipality Council reached its climax, the conversation was about Ozurgeti Club of Women-Voters of Fund "Sukhumi", a long-term cooperation and experience.

Then the chairperson of Fund "Sukhumi" Alla Gamakharia and the chairman of Ozurgeti Municipality Council  Avtandil Surguladze signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the members of the Council and Fund "Sukhumi", representatives of mass media, a coordinator of Gender Equality Network in Guria.

At the meeting was mentioned - the fact that we had to talk about gender is bad, but the fact is that we need it...

Signing of the Memorandum gave rise to the beginning of active cooperation. At the meeting was felt the hope for gaining of future positive results and changes.

Kutaisi Women Support Centre organized an excursion to the Parliament of Georgia for schoolchildren 29th school in Kutaisi.

The event was dedicated to the 16-day campaign. Schoolchildren were given publications of Fund "Sukhumi". According to them they would respect the rights of others.

By the initiative of Khoni Youth Centre at the school of the village Nakhakhulevi was organized the screening of the film "Suitcase” that was shot by young women with support of Fund "Sukhumi”. The film is about a girl living in the village.

Participants of the event expressed their interest in the theme raised in the film. They also learned about the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence Campaign and received informational materials printed by Fund "Sukhumi” specially for the campaign.
