On February 28, in the Center for Democratic Involvement of Batumi, fund "Sukhumi" organized a round table on the theme - "local gender perspectives in the context of self-government and community relations." The wide range society, media government and non-governmental organizations attended the event. Participants of a round table heard the information about a project of the fund "Sukhumi”, its goals and objectives, activities of the gender consultation centre and had an opportunity to express their view regarding the needs of different gender groups and the ways of their solution.

The conversation touched the gender stereotypes that often cause inequality, also the necessity of gender education in schools. This part of the society has a lack of information; it has no possibility to reach local resources.

According to the Council of Representatives, it is necessary to strengthen those groups which are less affected by social protection measures. It will help to distribute resources fairly.

The event will be aired by "Channel 25”

Khurcha – the youth from Kutaisi and Khurcha. Debates "Human Safety”, planned long before.

The issues that up to the given moment were discussed in 5 towns. Positions, which were raised by the youth, were not as strict as it is in this small village, where each morning is dangerous because of war tension.

"It is very emotional for me to be in a places, which is so close to Abkazia”

"From a distance those problems are not so obvious, which are caused in relations with the other parts of Georgia”

"My parents live in Nabakevi, I study in Zugdidi and I often have problems with the boundary officers and I know number of people, like me.”

"It is difficult to talk and find the ways – it does not depend on ordinary people and is discussed on higher political levels.”

The young people expressed a hope, that problems, raised on debates in February won’t be met by them again.

During a month 6 meetings with a lawyer were conducted in the collective centers. The meetings were fruitful. The participants gained knowledge about a law against violence in families, about changes and issues – interesting for them. On February 14, two strange meetings were held in public schools No5 and No6 for the pupils of 8 – 11 grades. We presented them with balloons and sheets of papers with a slogan, that 365 days in a year shoul be the day of love.

The young people told us that:

"Each day must be a day of giving love and happiness to the beloved people”

"As much is love among people, as less is violence.”

"Each day mustn’t be a day of love, because I can’t afford to buy a present for beloved woman, but will love her everyday”.
