From May, Cultural-Humanitarian Fund “Sukhumi”, together with the partners: teachers’ union “Education and Science” and women enerprisers’ fund began to implement joint project “Synergy – strengthenig of IDPs through involvement and collaboration – active work with IDP and women groups for their preparations for the elections.” The project will be carried out in Imereti (Kutaisi, Takaltubo) and Samegrelo (Senaki, Menji).

Project envisages:

-Research of needs and problems of the IDPs residing in collective centres of Kutaisi – 12, Tskaltubo – 4, Senaki – 2 (totally 18 collective centers.)

-Organizing and conducting of meetings with women – candidates, representing different political parties and blocks: “Georgian Dream”, “United National Movement”, “Self-Government to People”, non-parliament opposition (Kakha Kukava, Pikria Chihradze), Davit Tarkhan- Mouravi – Georgian Patriots’ Alliamnce, “Nino burjanadze – United Opposition”, Shalva Natelashvili – Georgian Labour Party.

-Conducting of informational meetings with the IDPs for spreading information – 12 in Kutaisi, 4 in Tskaltubo and 2 in Senaki.

 

Project goal:

-Informing of IDP about the programs of local self-government women candidates and informing candidates bout IDP problems.

-Support of informed IDP society for protection of gender equality fo women-sandidates in Kutaisi, Tskaltubo and Senaki.

On the 6-th meeting of Kutaisi Gender Advisory Council general analysis of local gender needs research was conducted.

Representatives of initiative group familiarized results of two inquires to the council members: regarding bulling problem in Kutaisi public scholl No10 and regarding gernder needs identification in Kutaisi kindergarten No 13. (50 teachers, 50 parents, 50 pupils were inquired in public schools and 65 teachers, 65 parents – in the kindergartens).

By the council decission, all candidates of Mayor will be sent a letter with recomendatons –gained after analysis of local gender needs research, also inquary results of kindergartens and schools, for envisaging in their programs.

Topic in TV “Egrisi” gives the gender picture of Senaki election administration. Chairperson of the DEC – is Maia Pirtskhalava since 2008. All 5 permanent commission members are women. For the election period 13 people are involved in the process. 11 of them are women 2- men. 5 of 9 technical personnel are women; they show us an award of CEC with proud, which is notification of their faithful work.

“We know the activities of the Fund ”Sukhumi” well and are glad that it made good basis of interesting work in Senaki”, Mrs. Maia expresses a hope that the GAC will help citizens to solve many actual cases.

The lawyer of DEC – Ramaz Kupreishvili underlines competence and high responsibility of the colleagues and mentions that collaboration with them is quite comfortable.
