The
presentation of the project "Gender Advisory Councils – increasing women’s role
in social changes of regions” for social changes of the regions” was held on
the 22 November
in the City Council of Kutaisi and the
Memorandum on
mutual cooperation was signed. The meeting was attended by members of the
local government and Fund "Sukhumi", a coordinator of the UN
Women in Georgia, and media representatives.
"Today is the confirmation of a new
stage of our cooperation" , - said the chairman of the City
Council , Mr. Tamaz Margvelashvili. He expressed confidence that the project
will be successfully implemented.
According to Ms. Tamar, the UN Women’s support of Fund "Sukhumi’s" project
emphasizes the recognition of the organization at the
international level.
Acting Mayor of Kutaisi, Mr. Shota
Murgulia noted that the cooperation of civil society and the government in
terms of gender equality is very important: "If we want to become members
of the European family, we should work on these issues during
the transition period in order to achieve tangible results".
